Stocking Tiger as a rule 0 commander (can only add cards to the deck that I crack in game) is the most fun I've had playing commander in a long time. Part of that is because I just don't ever crack packs for fun and this gives me a random excuse. Part of it is because trying to win with random draft chaff is hilarious. The deck is hella fun to play. The last game someone Deadly Rollicked my Swarm Culler, which is just the funniest thing I've seen in ages. @DirkGently I'd recommend it for your playgroup's powerlevel.

This sounds really fun. If I ever get to play more regularly I'll give it a try!materpillar wrote: ↑1 month agoStocking Tiger as a rule 0 commander (can only add cards to the deck that I crack in game) is the most fun I've had playing commander in a long time. Definitely needs a lower power environment. I played one game where I cast Stocking Tiger on turn 5 and someone one shot me with a giant voltron creature while I was tapped out. So that was pretty lame. He's a shockingly solid battlecruiser commander though. When you hit with him you usually get a couple of removal spells, guaranteed land drop and a handful of creatures to gum up your board. A pack is a ton of value even if it's just draft chaff.

Do people typically let you hit with it since its draft stuff or do they act like that says draw 15 ima kill it asap.

No one usually goes out of their way to kill Stocking Tiger or let it hit them. My friends get a kick out of watching me crack packs so it's only gotten removed once or twice with targeted removal. I have enough random Jump type effects now that I can usually get in on someone. I have on occasion done some deals like "let me hit you and I'll Murder something you want dead".

Update: I'm building someone an Astarion, the Decadent|100168 deck as a semi-romantic gesture because they're a huge fan of Baldur's Gate 3. Why does his card suck so much? Jesus Christ.
Life is weird, man.

My wife told me she was pregnant using the "infected by an alien" card from Nemesis since we always had a running joke about saying "you've got a baby with it.
Being in a relationship with someone equally nerdy is pretty awesome.

been testing another site's collection thing and wishing for some sort of app which shows you the minute differences between old school printings, eg: FBB vs Chronicles FBB vs Renaissance, can't get the hang of it, feel like I tagged everything wrong \o/ also has "Italian Legends" just been discontinued as a thing people track? it's still on sites like Troll and Toad, where the Italian editions have 4th Ed. formatting, italian text aside from the copyright and are way cheaper, like Field of Dreams is less than half the asking price of the english edition. but since the Italian editions aren't a thing on scryfall and other sites pull from that, it has become harder to track

Between Silksong and the anticipated release of Hades 2 later this year this is gonna be a great year for indie games and a very VERY very bad year for my time management.

Hades 2 is only Early Access in the loosest possible sense at the moment. It's mechanically finished, although the story only goes so far. I've been jamming it for about the past month and I'm just finishing up the last couple of high Fear runs the game asks you to do.
What I'm saying is, may as well start it now.

Oh, I did. I've like 80 hours in Hades 2 already, even if I haven't touched fear runs by now. Hades is like one of my favourite games of all timeDragonlover wrote: ↑1 month agoHades 2 is only Early Access in the loosest possible sense at the moment. Hm, I really like the boss fights and the new designs. Scylla is really creative and fun. We'll see, what kind of balance updates we will get with the last big update. And how they will conclude the story.Dragonlover wrote: ↑1 month agoThen carry on. Personally I don't think it's quite as good as Hades from a game design perspective, but I've made peace with the fact I think most of the boss fights kind of suck.

My brother bought the Abzan Armor deck, and decided to play with me with the deck as-is. I decided to use my The Wise Mothman deck.
Did you know that the Abzan deck contains Zetalpa, Primal Dawn?
With Felothar the Steadfast on the board, it effectively becomes an indestructible double-striking flying 8/8 trampler.
Did you know Will of the Abzan costs exactly ?
And thus: The injury was having a giant anhanguerid pterosaur trample all over my flabby body.
The insult was that it was my own radiation counter that milled Zetalpa into his graveyard.

Apparently WotC started listing product MSRP again with Aetherdrift, with Commander decks MSRPing for $44.99. This gives me an expected value to build custom precons with. I like this.

Just rated every single spider man commander in one day. Granted, most of those were "this card is limited fodder", but still.
I think my favorite commander in the set might be Sandman, Shifting Scoundrel? It's either that or Jackal, Genius Geneticist (aka "How the Grinch Took Roids").

Do you think Limited Fodder legends should have a standard grade then, if they are basically useless in the EDH context and really don't warrant much analysis? Or would it be more interesting to use your experience playing Limited to do a "double grade", evaluating them first for EDH and then rating their aptitude at performing their function in a draft? Would that dilute the core conceit of the series?DirkGently wrote: ↑2 weeks agoJust rated every single spider man commander in one day. Not trying to amplify your (substantial) workload or anything, just a suggestion to avoid a pile of "D+, not for us" ratings as the number of signpost uncommon legends likely increases.
