In this case, the angle is that Heliod himself is indestructible, and also provides a lot of potential power. The counters he generates can be put onto your protected creatures, or heliod himself, and thus easily persist through board wipes.
The obvious elephant in the room, with Heliod, is the infinite combos available with him, as well as the strength of the always super fun to play against aetherflux reservoir. For now I've left them out of the deck - but I'm going to bring them along to my LGS if I decide I want to play hardball.
