Luckily, one of my favorite new cards just got printed in CLB - Shameless Charlatan. This card is so freaking cool. It also locks you into a 2 color build if you want to use it as a commander, and interestingly it kinda makes your commander choice irrelevant since it'll quickly become a copy of something else (and note that it is a permanent change, not just until end of turn, though since it's still your commander it retains the copying ability through copying).
So for this build, I just went with the cheapest background commander available - Wilson, Refined Grizzly. His abilities are mostly irrelevant, but green is a good secondary color for 98 lands, and "cannot be countered" and ward both make him a little less likely to get sniped before he has a chance to start copying things. Erinis, Gloom Stalker is also a reasonable choice for recurring fetches to ramp, but then you've gotta actually keep her in her base form which is boring. So we're starting with Wilson.
If 98 lands ends up being impossible to win with, I'm going to add a few slots for interaction, and keep doing that until the deck reaches an acceptable power level for my meta. If it ends up being too strong, idk, maybe I'll cut some of the nonbasics? Inkmoth Nexus is probably on the watch list, and maybe Crawling Barrens.
One of the primary tricks within the decklist is using manlands to allow my commander to turn into a land in order to dodge removal. He'll stop being a creature when that happens. Note that he'll need to be animated in order to copy something again.
