Curious about two metrics - how much time you spend actively doing something magic-related (i.e. it is the primary activity you are engaged in - playing, building, and communicating are the three things that come to mind, but include anything else you'd consider a primary activity), as well as how much time you spend passively doing something magic-related (i.e. thinking about magic while driving, in the shower, during your wedding, etc).

Haven't voted yet. Does this include Shandalar (and possibly other digital forms)? Are you including trading under "communication"?
Rough Estimates would be:

Pre MTGO v4
-At least 10 hours a week deckbuilding, playing and communicating (DPC)
-Probably 15 hrs/week average DPC
-About 7 hrs/week thinking during other tasks

Pre-UB
-At least 5 hrs/week DPC
-Probably 8-10 hrs/week average DPC
-About 3 hrs/week thinking during other tasks

Post-UB/before finding Manalink's revamped Shandalar
- About 1 hr/week avg DPC
-<1hr/week Thinking during other tasks

Current (including Shandalar)
- About 6hrs/week DPC
-<1hr/week Thinking during other tasks

Those would all be active things, yep. If the main activity you're engaging in is magic-related, then it falls into that category.

Manalink's revampled Shandalar
I would like to know more about this. I thought I'd seen someone talk about it, but then decided I'd imagined things, it must have been you on here somewhere. I played the original many moons ago and would an updated version.

As to the poll, I've voted, its an odd one. Some weeks its just FNM and some Youtube, other weeks its that plus there's spoilers or someones building a deck or you suddenly remember a card exists for a deck in your meta. Doesn't help that me, my wife and their partner all play so that last one happens quite a lot in our house.

I am currently using it on Win 11. Manalink 3.0 and Download Link. Data:
- Downloads as a Zip (7-Zip, but should be unpackable by any zip manager)
- Does not require installation - just unzip and launch the exe file (Only requires install for Mods)
-- I keep a copy on a USB drive and run it from there
- "Magic" exe runs the manalink P2P vs mode, "Shandalar" exe runs the updated original solo game
- Has cards through SoI (but not all cards - just many cards)
- Does still have some bugs (ex: Tidespout Tyrant bounces himself instead of the target) but very playable when you find and avoid those cards. . . I have freed Shandalar 5 or 6 times now.

So far it seems like this poll is answering some of the questions my other poll raised for me - clearly I am spending significantly more time than pretty much anybody else here on this hobby. I probably average 10 hours a week playing, 10 building, and 10 communicating, plus a ton of time thinking about it on the side.

I generally play every Saturday with my usual playgroup and it's usually from 5 or 6 PM until 12 or 1 AM (sometimes a bit later if the last game is just grinding out). Beyond that, I check up on Reddit and here a few times a day.

Honestly varies far to much for me to quantify. I'll stop playing for months, then obsess about it for multiple hours a day.
All cards are bad if you try hard enough.

Important decks: Ebondeath, Dracolich, Emiel, The Blessed, Phelddagriff
Other: Ruhan, Zask, Kellan, Liesa, Galadriel, Orca, Sauron, Thantis, Rukarumel, Sisay, Stickfingers, Safana, Thantis, Dihada

I spend much more time thinking and consuming magic content than playing magic. I get maybe one 10-hour binge session once a quarter of playing. I converse on the phone with a buddy probably couple hours a week. So my weekly "activity" is mainly conversation. Game play cannot be measured on a weekly basis. I voted 1-3 hours to account for mainly conversation and goldfishing. My friend and I are building some pauper commander decks for the next time we meet over Thanksgiving. So I have been building 3 PDH decks with uncommon legends to try out then. Otherwise my decks are usually very stable, and I only build maybe 1 new deck per year and just maintain the other 8-9 decks with new cards. I do some goldfishing on the weekends just to keep up familiarity with my decks.

Thinking, brewing, and viewing I do quite a bit more. I voted 6-10 hours due to forums + gameplay videos on youtube. I like to theorycraft, read/comment here, and watch probably 1 hr/day of magic youtube on my lunch break. 45 min drive to work each way so I think about deck ideas of strategy quite often. Since I don't rotate decks very often I usually think about strategy for my existing decks, any weaknesses that need to be supported, what I like and dislike about their performance the last time I played. Potential upgrades or retooling depending on what was missing. That sort of stuff.

A better question might be "Do you feel compelled to buy every product" "Do you buy just singles" and choices along those lines.

I went with 10-15 hours. I generally get to play one day a week at most for 5ish hours but I spend a good bit of time deckbuilding, reflecting on my games, and checking forums. There was a time many years ago where my number would have been in the 30+ range but I have gotten more jaded with the game and have a family and other interests these days.

Hmm, idk, these days I have more fun on the Switch, but I guess if counting these forums then maybe 1-3 hours a week? Idk it's been easy to not get super into the weeds since most new cards are just side grades really.

I almost never get to play, and, for the last six years or so, I've made, bought, scrapped, sold to repeat more times than I've actually played. It's very hard to get together with anyone, but it's very fun theorycrafting, building and owning a commander deck. "What can this deck do?" piques my interest way more than, "nothing, apparently".

I spend a good amount thinking and playing magic, pretty much every day.
A good shot in the dark in terms of hours would probably be 10-15 hours a week. I watch YouTube channels like command zone, watch their commander gameplay stuff and watch their podcast.
I also play magic with my friend, but recently I've had to really tell him that playing with him is zero fun and he needs to change his very competitive playing style for a two player game between friends.
I go to Friday night magic once a week with my play group also, and I buy cards for my decks
Typically I watch command zone while I play magic by myself if I feel bored enough and feel like killing time. I even talk to myself a good amount about combo pieces in my main deck
I sound autistic saying all of this but yeah I think about it a lot.
Also for those who want to know I never buy packs but I buy singles.

I am in the same boat as some of the others. Actually playing is like 12 hours a week because during a regular week I go to an LGS twice a week, but then thinking about decks and shuffling cards around and dealing with my collection, that can be all day
