Very small deck idea

My friends came up with this funny idea to play around 80 Persistent Petitioners and use cards like Surgical Extraction to remove them from the deck. resulting you having a very small deck. I ran few xmage tests and it was surprisingly consistent to exile all the useless cards. Real problems I had was that I was mostly just top decking.

Any suggestions what cards to fill up the rest of the deck?

Chapel in MTG, haha. Probably can make a variety of infinite combos with only a handful of cards in deck.

Or, of course, just Thassa's Oracle
All cards are bad if you try hard enough.

Important decks: Ebondeath, Dracolich, Emiel, The Blessed, Phelddagriff
Other: Ruhan, Zask, Kellan, Liesa, Galadriel, Orca, Sauron, Thantis, Rukarumel, Sisay, Stickfingers, Safana, Thantis, Dihada

This isn't exactly what your question is, but I have a meme/theme deck that runs 50 Persistent Petitioners to set up Necrotic Ooze combos with Sphinx of the Chimes. It only has 11 cards that are neither lands nor petitioners; 5 cards for necrotic ooze, Dread Return and petitioner combo cards like Leyline of the Void, Intruder Alarm, and Bloodbond March.

This build probaby wants some mana sources, interaction, and a low card count wincon. Planning it like and old school Doomsday around a thoracle pile is likely the most efficient. Based on experience with my deck, you may want to consider going to 60-70 petitioners to make mulligans more consistent.

There's also Mana Severance if you want thin your deck quickly.

I ran a Shadowborn Apostle deck. Thrumming Stone and Bloodbond March.

The problem with Surgical Extraction is that you'll still have all your lands in the deck, so even Thassa's Oracle looks bad, as well as just generally flooding. You could run Mana Severance.

Mana severance does seem a lot easier. No risk of mana screw and you can put cycling lands etc that can help you do stuff if you can't get a tutor for severance.

The idea is also to play very few lands. Like 8.
