commander-wise, the suits-me rankings:

#1 Yenna, Redtooth Regent - 4/5 yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. I am gonna enchant so much land.
#2 Beluna Grandsquall - 4/5, Adventure is one of my fave mechanics and appears in all my recent fave sets... -1 for "Noble" since my eternal mood is scruffy little thief/nature hermit/weirdo
#3 Talion, the Kindly Lord - 4/5, LOVE THIS. naming 1 again a big stack of mana elves sounds really funny. it seems better in attack-left commander than classic commander, very much a victimization tool (I like cards like that, lol, a dedicated attack on one opponent you suspect has an advantage over yr deck is more honest than the politics game)
#4 Troyan, Gutsy Explorer - 4/5, would try. I love high CMC shenanigans. Hope people don't give this card the casual once-over then put it in the same category as stupid cards like Kinnan or Thrasios or whatever, this is more specialized
#5 Korvold, Gleeful Glutton - 3/5, this seems too good? Rakdos+ sac/delirium is really powerful and overdone territory imo. I roughly know how to play it but I'd be wary of eyerolls
#6 Lord Skitter, Sewer King - 3/5, is either low-impact or tribal. having said that, Rats are high up my fave creature type rankings
#7 Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender - 2/5, I'm not sure how many CARDS there are for this kind of commander, which literally only helps itself? Playing with Ravager, Hangarback Walker and Ozolith and stuff alongside seems really powerful I guess. -1 for "Knight"
#8 Obyra, Dreaming Duelist - 1/5, linear tribal thing
#9 Old Flitterfang - 1/5, big cmc for a hard to protect mono-black pseudo-not quite-voltron or value guy
#10 Sharae of Numbing Depths - 1/5, overtly-limited power level card (then again, I have built Shessra, Death's Whisper...)
#11 The Goose Mother - 0/5, heck of boring Krasis
#12 Alela, Cunning Conqueror - 0/5, I always forget about goad and none of the rest of the card appeals to me at all besides the art
#13 Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor - -1/5, new top 25 EDHREC commander

and, uh, 18 humans. I try not to play those things, known too many horrible examples =P

Brenard, Ginger Sculptor attracts me the most. There are many ways to use him, but I'm most curious about how to make as many ginger golems as possible.

A surprising number of dragons in this set and even a support card. None of them make the cut in Miirym or Ur-Dragon though. I will say that I chuckled like an idiot at the flavor text for Archive Dragon. Getting ready to see the Virtues all over everyone's pages on EDHREC.

None of the Virtues strike me as highly synergistic with any of my current decks. They aren't bad; I just have no excitement about them right now.

Shadow Puppeteers captured my interest the most, it's sorta like a monoblue Overrun for flying weenies like Spirits and Thopters, the "may" clause is great to avoid shrinking down your bigger flyers, and even on an empty board you get to swing for 12 next turn.

Imagine this in that Flying Men Edric deck.

I actually was considering brewing a Obrya, Dreaming Deulist because I though she also triggered on herself entering, ub control with a bunch of bounce and clone effects to slowly ping the table, "death of a thousand cuts" style might have been kind of neat. But she only triggers on others faeries, so I'm off it.

Wydwen, the Biting Gale can self-bounce and Fencer Clique can return itself to the top of your library, surely there is something interesting here?

Maybe, but at that point, why not just run a more self-contained win-con in the command zone?

Commander, then Spark Double would have done 3 damage of she triggered herself, instead it does 1.

Using Crystal Shard to bounce commander and recast her on the end step would do an additional 2, interested it does 1.

Still slow, but likely twice as fast in most situations.

Galadriel is some S-tier protection, I love how they brought back phasing and gave it to white, it's the best kind of protection in the game and synergizes with white's token spam.

I still think mono-white players are insufferable, but it's cool to see a very useful effect be added to the color wheel, especially a color that doesn't normally interest me too much.

LOTR is getting a holiday release with some new cards that are not modern legal. I think they are cards building other scenes

So, I know Rainbow Dash is supposed to start at 0, then increase in increments of 20, but percentile increases are confusing as all get-out. You could also interpret a 20% increase from 0 to still be 0.

Just don't use percentile increases if you can avoid it guys.

Pinkie Pie has the cleverest ability, clearly meant to interact with the party mechanic from Zendikar. Wonder if it breaks anything?

It's in that zone where it would be really strong in limited but utterly underwhelming as a commander, and pretty mediocre in the 99.

I don't think anything could be considered strictly better by any stretch, but there are plenty of similar cards I'd use over it depending on the deck. Talrand, Sky Summoner, Archon of Sun's Grace, Alela, Artful Provocateur, Bloodline Keeper // Lord of Lineage, Combat Calligrapher, Emeria Angel, etc.

My thoughts:

• Pinkie Pie is interesting - I don't know how many spells will trigger her first ability, but the fact that the treasure enters tapped cuts out some of the sillier shenanigans. Still good though. On the flip side, the party support is quite nice, but I don't think there are enough payoffs to justify building around. I guess Squad Commander and Stick Together become pretty good?
• Fluttershy provides an interesting build-around for tail-based decks. Beast typal, or another type without an obvious commander? Hmmm... staring down a creature for a turn is a bit niche, but still a reasonable way to deal with a pesky attacker or blocker.
• Applejack looks strong in limited, but niche otherwise. You can get both flying and the scry if you have toys with both wings and horns (such as dragons), and they also get the creature type, which can be interesting. That said, GW has a lot of strong token producers already.
• Rainbow Dash looks cool. Obligatory 'combos with Najeela, the Blade-Blossom' mention, but she's a reasonable generic payoff for other decks that want to be playing a bunch of flyers or hasty creatures. I sort of wish she were straight rw so I could run her in Samut, but such is life.

Overall, they look like some fun casual designs for fans of the show. I appreciate that they're silver bordered like the previous cards, both from a continuity perspective and a 'don't take these cards too seriously and just have fun' perspective.

my thoughts: these are adorable, silver-border is best border and I wish actual madcap casual existed

edit: these things are the best argument for tiny sets, too. i hated that LOTR expansion with most its characters being very curiously statted and designed, having to be constrained to Food, Legends, EQ or Ring themes. just gimme individual cards which don't have to draft synergize tbh
