Willow Satyr is both powerful and highly unusual. I like it. Pity it's so expensive. And also that finding a home for the guy would be hard.

Just want to say that Fendeep Summoner is remarkably strong in Doran Treefolk Tribal. Both Doran and Treefolk Tribal in general are pretty odd, though, and I doubt it would be anywhere near as good pretty much anywhere else. In that deck, though, the pair of 5-toughness bodies that are also a relevant creature type is pretty darn good.
39 Commander decks and counting. I'm sure this is fine, and not at all a problem.

In what sense was your "most expensive deck ever"?

"I take care of this place while the Master is away..."

Get it? Manos: Hands of Fate? Manos? 🤲 Hands? Get it?

Powerful effect. Even more powerful considering green doesn't normally steal. Even with only a 1/1 body; hey, satyrs are lovers, not fighters.

But yeah, at over a hundred dollars, you'd better be Mr. Moneybags before you play it.

This guy is also the first satyr. The second satyr is...much worse.

Willow Satyr and Preacher are two cards I'd be interested in running if not for their pricetags - their colors generally don't have access to theft effects, which makes them fairly unique. That said, I'm not sure how good Willow Satyr actually is. Obviously, it shuts down opposing commanders (which is pretty good), but whether or not your opponents will have other legends to steal is somewhat random. Plus, as an on-board trick, this will generally feel worse than it actually is, since your opponents will probably just pass on playing their legends and instead do other stuff.

Preacher is pretty bad even given the scarcity of the effect there, but you at least have Evangelize if you want the effect. Every colour can use Helm of Possession though, and yet I very rarely actually see it. It's a pretty strong effect and the cost is right...

If you go into u, that opens up Empress Galina which is permatheft.

In b I adore my Ritual of the Machine like the true boomer ass player I am. Sinis might share that sentiment though.

I think I like willow satyr more than empress. They both have a similar dampening effect on playing legends, but satyr is cheaper and slightly less likely to get instantly killed. And much cheaper to use immediately with haste.

Galina I think plays amazing in imagination land, where everyone just plays their commanders into her, but IRL I think I'd rather save the mana and reduce my threat profile. Besides, all theft is permatheft if you do it right.

I run Willow Satyr in Gallia, and oh boy is it a house. Much cheaper on mtgo obviously. Having haste is a big deal, nobody expects permasteal coming out of nowhere for 4 mana in gruul, then it sits on the board as a rattlesnake against other problem legends. Gallia has a lot of recursion as well since it tries to maximize the value from her super looting ability, so even if this gets answered there's a good chance of getting it back.

For context, I'd be throwing it in my Samut, Voice of Dissent deck alongside Goblin Bombardment and a few other sac outlets. Stealing the worst creature and waiting for it to die? Underwhelming. Stealing the worst creature 3+ times per turn cycle and sacrificing it for value? Significantly better, particularly given that Naya colors don't have access to many tap abilities capable of killing creatures other than pingers.

It's not quite Staxxy enough, and yet still wastes an exorbitant amount of time.

I play it in Sydri, Galvanic Genius vehicles
I imagine Urza, Lord High Artificer plays it

Strong card, not terribly fun.

would be better if you couldn't turn it off and make it asymmetrical. At least then it would lead to more interesting uses.

I imagine this is great is Ashaya, Soul of the Wild

Not the best orb because it doesn't really slow down opponents but it will still make them hate you.

Yeah I think this is right in that grey area where it's not powerful enough to offset the annoyance (see War's Toll). Not really where I want to be with stax pieces most of the time.

I don't play my Hanna deck a ton but I do like this card in it quite a bit. It doesn't totally stop opponents but it really slows people who go for explosive fast starts. Making the aggro players have to choose between swinging or playing cards is pretty effective. Slower reactive decks don't tend to care much.

Goes great with Static Orb, but not generally something you want to run on its own. Unless you've got some lockdown in the command zone anyway.

I toyed with Slobad as a commander for a short time. He was soooo fragile that I couldn't keep him alive long enough to get any good value out of the ability. Though I wasn't trying to aggressively wipe the board immediately after casting. I just wanted to protect my big robots. For that purpose I think he is better in the 99. I moved to Daretti, Scrap Savant and ran him for several years until just recently.

If you want to Obliterate the world, slobad is probably your guy.

There was once a really cool Slobad deck over on Sally. I think there's a lot of value in having a sac outlet in the CZ, and Slobad comes down early and often to enable the synergies. Probably underrated in the Post-Daretti era.

Can be used with wellsprings and such. Or with Kuldotha Rebirth.

I ran slobad for a few years as essentially a highly unreliable combo deck, and eventually took the deck apart when I sort of put the deck onto the battlefield with a Kuldotha Forgemaster loop. Being two mana and an instant speed sac outlet is pretty good, with a lot of interactions ranging from strong to cute. It was honestly a very fun deck due to its unreliability and the general broken nature of artifact synergy decks--it varied between making 60 myrs, feeding my field to bosh to eek out the win, or desperately trying to get a 3/1 goblin through for commander damage by sacrificing goats for spellbombs.
