This seems so wrong.

Also I'm disappointed that they didn't make its type Ugin's to mirror Urza's.

would have required some errata on other cards and may not have been worth the trouble.

Alright fine, I'm taking Urza's Cave as a sign. Zask, Skittering Swarmlord will be joining the permanent deck collection. Maybe I can finally get rid of Emiel the Blessed.

It's almost comical how good this card is for the deck.

And I just read Wight of the Reliquary again confirming my suspicion that someone at WOTC made a copy of my Zask deck and is now abusing his influence to make cool new cards for the deck.

Hey, another Un-card turned into real card in Planar Nexus.

Final Act is another Foray into the Black Board Wipes which I am all down for, Still not sure I prefer it over MV 5 options, but we are certainly moving in the right direction.

Final Act gives us another way to remove poison counters, when paired with Sudden Substitution or Hive Mind. Everything else is symmetrical so control doesn't really matter.

agh I really dislike gravekill being thrown into these board wipes for free... or rather I think Shadows' Verdict type-implementation which just blasts a subset of cards is good, but unrestricted gravekill is cruel and messes with lower power decks really really hard

The ninjas missed a Facebook group that has the commander decks

First a cleaner version of some of those new eldrazi deck cards we already figured out






Next is 3 more new cards

Basically what this does they select which monocolor permanents they own survives this wrath and colorless ones make it as well.


You a fan of Nashi, Moon Sage's Scion? Well now we get a eldrazi version but this only does one player, however it's impossible to wiff it throws away the lands into exile so that's handy for the processor cards.



WHAT THE HECK WERE THEY THINKING WITH THIS!?! With your own Dark Depths not Only you can freebie cast a card like Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger you get Marit.

And here's some more cards from the Jund precon (one from the simic)


Basically it's Broodmate Dragon on steroids


Again? How many more forever Gishath, Sun's Avatar staples will they make ever since caverns of ixalan? and this one basically similar to Saskia the Unyielding but it doubles the damage instead.


Whoa!… good luck not falling for this tempt especially if it targets a draw spell or ramp spell.


No where near as strong this kind of reminds me of Ezuri's Predation but only a certain number of creatures but it's any creature you want to do the fighting.


Ooooh ho. I'm looking forward to seeing the horror of a players face when they Wrath of God/Damnation effect a board and this jumps out.


Holy cow! That thing is gonna be a really really big creature just doing one X makes it a 11/11


No way! This phyrexian makes every single removal spell way better since you get a second target with single target stuff.


Oh boy it just started as of MH3 and Lhurgoyf tribal might be scary since the damage can really stack with those creatures

Kudo, King Among Bears seems like a fun deck. I'm a huge Chicago Bears fans, but this guy is green and white, not blue and orange. My Bears deck would be Packer colors.

Also that Cultist, T1 Swamp, Sol Ring, T2 Dark Depths, then Cultist, then Ulamog.

I wouldn't say it's "for free". All the non-creature modes are really niche so otherwise it'd almost just be a 6mv wrath of god, which sucks (okay, planeswalkers is moderately useful but battles and…energy counters? Experience counters? Is crazy niche).

A third of the time you get a juicy target with a truck load of counters. Whether it's +1/+1 or what ever counters. The most often target is regular old hydra.

And plus that cost reduction is any kind of spell not just permanents you could use the reduction for a Torment of Hailfire like card

The card is more like Back to Basics than Winter Orb because missing basics is huge. Being colorless and a two-drop means decks that can't run Blood Moon or Back to Basics can run this instead. It sounds amazing in a number of mono-color decks as a potentially one-sided form of stax, and I look forwards to trying it out.

It's a mix of Blood Moon and Winter Orb, but I think the closest parallel is actually Back to Basics. It's a stax piece, which makes me somewhat hesitant to consider it for more casual metas... but I do appreciate it as a strong hate piece for monocolor / basic-heavy decks against decks with greedier manabases. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being relevant in cEDH or other formats, and artifacts tend to be easy to tutor up.

I appreciate that it is colorless and can provide redundancy for other nonbasic hate - it's hard to justify running an all-basic manabase for just Blood Moon or B2B alone because you won't draw them in most games. With Winter Moon (and Magus of the Moon or its upcoming blue equivalent), it becomes significantly more likely that you'll see at least one. I'm not sure if I'll run all the blue options in Thada, but I'm certainly considering it.

Winter moon is the nonbasic hate that we need, but I suspect not the kind people want as it's comparatively soft - much softer than B2B or winter orb. But it'll probably get played in decks that were already eschewing nonbasics for the red nonbasic hate. As long as you're already eschewing good utility lands, you may as well commit to the bit.

Anyway I appreciate wotc trying to make nonbasic hate that isn't quite so pull-your-hair-out obnoxious.

So it's a build-around that's also a narrow hate piece so it doesn't work unless our opponents are playing counters? That seems bad. Zero people play Parting Thoughts and that's at least a reliable sorcery-speed murder instead of basically nothing.

Plus most cards with X counters on them cost somewhere around X mana, so it's probably not ramping us more than other mana doublers that are more reliable and last longer than a turn.

And then the DD combo is a 3-parter with 2 specific otherwise-bad pieces that doesn't reliably win you the game - not even close tbh.

Seems like a nothingburger in commander. Maybe it's viable in other formats with 4x DD and 20 life - I wouldn't be able to speak to that. Wait DD is banned in modern? Okay p sure this guy is destined for the bulk bin then.

just realized the obvious - the synergy isn't supposed to be DD or hoping-an-opponent-is-playing-hydras, it's targeting your own battles. Of course whether battles will see enough support to make that remotely interesting is an open question - currently they're niche playable at best.

Honestly i'm really liking the jund theme being the jund shard. I have alway loved it, both tematically and mechanically.
Too bad jund commander are kinda bad or boring and doesn't reflect the shard. Even the new ones we are getting in this deck are incredibly boring and don't really fit the jund theme, especially Gargor.
