I notice several Alchemy legends can turn into actual cards without issue after some text change. For example, Rusko, Clockmaker could just create an artifact token of Midnight Clock, similar to what Garth One-Eye does.

What do people think about these Alchemy legends? Does your LGS or game group allow them after modification?

Like most technically-disallowed things, I'm generally okay to try it, but if it does anything remotely busted I'm banning it ASAP. That's also been my policy for silver bordered stuff (so long as it doesn't involve anything outside the game - all that stuff can %$#% right off).

So, y'know, build conservatively.

After getting five clocks out and multiple copies of Rusko, I will part with this last remark.

"Time will accelerate."

Oyaminartok, Polar Werebear is the one I've considered for this — suit up with Brass Knuckles and Assault Suit so he's going fishing every turn.

I had way too much fun with him on Arena.

I had a thought about this with Now You See Me . . . — get one of those decorative wall mirrors that's in a couple dozen pieces, and turn it into the most efficient permanent pump spell of all time when you have the home field advantage.

Those sorts of cards are a big part of why I despite unfinity, and un sets in general. I generally won't play against silver/acorn cards in the 99 unless I can flip through them first and make sure none of them are of this ilk.

Yessir - I can see it happening exactly once, and everyone giving a massive wtf to it.

Similar thing happened when I built around Name Dropping and played a deck full of cards with extremely commonly used words — swords TO plowshares, path TO exile… game got silent pretty quick. What can I say, I was fifteen :D

Rusko is infuriating.
He ramps himself, so if you kill him he comes right back.
If you don't kill him, he just gets flickered repeatedly and draws a million cards, and did you know that when you draw a million cards it is very easy to control the game (and draw more cards) and then you don't actually need a win condition because Rusko is also a win condition.

This is a terribly-designed card and would be banned in Commander if it existed on paper.

There are some alchemy cards that are interesting for commander, but form what I remember they are all the ones that Seek which is not practical on paper.

I only playtested him in 1v1, called the deck "Made in Heaven", but then I realize that however well he does in 1v1 he'd probably do a LOT better against a full table, thanks to Midnight Clock adding counter every turn.

How does alchemy EDH handle him, if anyone knows?

I play Historic Brawl on Arena and scoop before I see my opening 7 when my opponent plays Rusko. It's just not fun.
I used to play the games but would lose at least 90% of the games.
A perfect starting hand can make it a close game... Anything less than perfect is a loss unless opponent stumbles on mana or your deck goes 'off' very quickly.
Perfect starting hand includes discard and counterspells, maybe an early Casualties of War. Enough to slow down Rusko and win before he starts chaining draw 7s.
It's still not a given though, Displacer Kitten can win the game from anywhere for example. Or Paradox Engine.

So for Historic brawl, to manage Rusko, you need to be playing an equally annoying 'tier 1' deck that is spikey as hell. Rusko renders any non-blue deck obsolete. I am not going to be winning any games with Calix, Destiny's Hand or Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin or Ratadrabik of Urborg (unless Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is in my opener, I think I once beat Rusko after getting 4 Thalias in play)
