Old Gnawbone in Xenagos is absolutely ridiculous.
Hit someone for 14, make 14 treasures, I'll take it. Sometimes you can swing more than once or draw a ton of cards, in which case you are very likely winning on that turn.

That is to say nothing about fueling spells that give you even more attack steps.plushpenguin wrote: ↑2 years agoOld Gnawbone in Xenagos is absolutely ridiculous.

Re: theft effects - personally, I'm a fan of them. I do have a Thada Adel, Acquisitor deck, after all. As frequently comes up in discussions, they're generally weaker than pulling an equivalent card from your own deck, since most decks are reliant on synergy. I will agree that that theft strategies can be unfun to play against, but they're generally not costed to be competitively viable, so theft decks are usually a bit underpowered, IMO.
Anyway....
Anyway....
- Teleportation Circle is sweet, and a nice pickup for white decks. Snap-include in Brago as another Conjurer's Closet. Sharuum prefers the Closet due to it being recurrable, but also flickering artifacts is a new effect.
- Treasure Vault is... very interesting. It's a bit like a storage land - you pay 2 mana to get 1 mana back later. However, in this case, you can get the mana back immediately in the form of a pile of treasures, although you also lose the land. Definitely an interesting option, and if you have any token-multiplying effects or treasure synergies it can be pretty crazy.
- Monk Class looks like a very fun implementation of Monk's flurry of blows ability. As an upkeep trigger, the third level it may be a bit too slow in practice, but it's also pretty cheap to get to.
- The Book of Exalted Deeds is mildly interesting as a lifegain payoff. The Platinum Angel ability is probably a bit too situational, but if you throw it on something like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, it can be very difficult to get around. That said, I'm not a fan of the card, mostly because the original D&D supplement was.... really, really dumb.
You Find Some Prisoners is a cool card that can counter those pesky one mana tutors to the top of libraries. I have always been a fan of Abrade and so this card can be fun, especially since it is instant speed.
The summer is hot. The sum of sun and hot equals summer.
Indeed. One more card that fuels a combo with Aggravated Assault.Igzex wrote: ↑2 years agoThat is to say nothing about fueling spells that give you even more attack steps.plushpenguin wrote: ↑2 years agoOld Gnawbone in Xenagos is absolutely ridiculous.

senor goblin is so nice, a robust bit of Goblin utility rather than a multiplier or haster. might be underpowered compared to Goblin Chieftain, Krenko etc but just about every goblin is and I like that this new lord is more of a red permanent control linchpin than an instant win
My big issue is that the tap ability states came into play that turn and comes with a mana cost. Without the cost it would be ok if you can somehow blink or continually generate tokens or plays. Otherwise its realistically stepping on Krenko's toes on when you want to play either of them. With the cost it just is meh really?folding_music wrote: ↑2 years agosenor goblin is so nice, a robust bit of Goblin utility rather than a multiplier or haster. might be underpowered compared to Goblin Chieftain, Krenko etc but just about every goblin is and I like that this new lord is more of a red permanent control linchpin than an instant win

I mean I play oldy timy casual with prodigal sorceror and orcish artillery, you gimme a 2/3 goblin lord for the same cost that can occasionally cast shock and I'm not calling it underpowered because of its slight inconvenience lol
Would Galea, Kindler of Hope work with bestow? I want to think they're not aura cards but are aura spells? Similarly sword of the realms and so forth?
that would fit perfectly with my Oloro, Ageless Ascetic deck, if/when i put it back together....Mookie wrote: ↑2 years ago

In Krenko it seems pretty strong...having the ability to krenko and instantly kill someone is nasty. It means that even if someone has the board wipe, they're still potentially dead if you've got enough goblins.EonAon wrote: ↑2 years agoMy big issue is that the tap ability states came into play that turn and comes with a mana cost. I guess it's slower than haste, but you can react at instant speed which is nice.

Long Rest is, A comparison to Seasons Past. Paying into it to also get back to 40 life is an interesting point, but also paying 11 for just mass recursion seems a tiddly weedly bit much.

You also need 8 different cmcs…mvs to gain the life. Hard to imagine that being possible very often. I guess it compares favourably to Restock but that's about it imo. Probably puts it too low on the totem pole for recursion options to make the cut anywhere.

Galea wouldn't work with bestow because it's not an aura when it's in your library; it's a creature and an enchantment. Same with Sword of the Realms; the game only sees it as Halvar, God of Battle when it's anywhere but the battlefield.brainface wrote: ↑2 years agoWould Galea, Kindler of Hope work with bestow? Actually, it DOES work. This is why they specifically changed the wording on similar effects. Galea doesn't require the top card to be an actual Aura or Equipment while in the library. As long as the top card is something that can be cast as an Aura or Equipment (and thus becomes an Aura or Equipment spell on the stack), Galea will allow it.RxPhantom wrote: ↑2 years agoGalea wouldn't work with bestow because it's not an aura when it's in your library; it's a creature and an enchantment. acererak, lord of undeath is interesting, though I'm a bit confused about the wording on him. Does he give you a 2/2 zombie for each player unless the corresponding player sacrifices a creature, or is it only the defending player who controls whether you get all of the zombies, by sacrificing just the one creature?
The funny thing about him is that he's probably better never actually sticking to the board. The tomb of annihilation is so garbage and you have to spend at least 12 mana to get him to stick (and that's going through the oubliette which is pretty awful). You'd need a mana crypt start to make that look anything less than atrocious. Just using him as a way to turn big black mana into mad mage triggers seems like a much stronger plan to me.
Anyway, cool design. Reminds me of Greenbelt Rampager.

green's got ways to self-mill to intentionally set up Long Rest I think... the obvious stuff like Hermit Druid is OP but there's lots of subtle advantageous stuff like Vessel of Nascency I would wanna be gathering around the card
