Idk, combat tricks are about as fair as it gets.
Ah but as a humble Fynn player I am in fact the one who is up to no good.

Nah, you're the good guy and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Suckers should have just played more blockers and removal ;)

Most infect is OK because it is either telegraphed in the command zone, requires a board state (Triumph of the Hordes), or is just a big fat spell that could just as easily be replaced with something really broken whether you cheat it out or not (Blightsteel). Inkmoth comes out of nowhere, as does a stray Tainted Strike, but I feel like I see inkmoth more often as a surprise kill one player combo. It's completely fair in infect decks, but hateable as a surprise infect card, especially being a man land.

I used it as a cheap mainland to mutate Brokkos, Apex of Forever onto so I didn't have to run creatures. Completely fair Magic card.

Noteworthy to me for single-handedly tutoring up an infinite combo at instant speed - Reset, Lightning Bolt or (Brainstorm if you're a degenerate), Reiterate. I'm not sure I'd ever play this fairly. Maybe in an intentionally powered down Mizzix if such a thing existed.

I've never seen this before and I kinda doubt I will. You have to cast this with a bigger board than your opponents' stats wise and then have to dodge removal for it to get value and the entire table is incentivized to immediately murder him.

Maybe good if you've got a pile of sac outlets on hand?

I think any deck that would try to leverage this is going to be playing the better sac outlets. That being said I don't know that I would even consider building around this because it's not red so your threaten options are severely limited. Seems like one of those thematic D&D cards that isn't really good enough to warrant inclusion, much like most of the aptly named Forgotten Realms set I'm afraid.

I was a Bolas guy back in the day, although I didn't start playing the format until the Invasion dragons were legal. I'm not even sure if that was an official rule or something we house ruled now that I think of it.

These are all long before my time, and time has not been kind to them.

Having practically no experience with any of them, my guess is Nicol Bolas is the best out of them in Commander. They're all pretty good at attacking and/or blocking, but that's not too important in Commander, so the ability to strip hands is at least something.

Someone that's actually played with these cards back in the day tell me if I'm right or wrong LOL.

You haven't lived until you've resolved Nicol Bolas with a Dragon Tempest in play.

The Elder Dragons have definitely been victims of power creep - I've seen Nicol Bolas played, but the rest are incredibly niche. Eight mana plus an upkeep cost for a french vanilla flyer is... pretty steep. Arcades, the Strategist and the rest of the revamped cycle are reasonable though, as is Piru, the Volatile.

re: Firemind's Foresight - I ran it in Mizzix for a long time, but eventually cut it due to power level - it closed out games way too efficiently. My usual package was High Tide / Reality Spasm / Frantic Search, but there are plenty of ways to turn it into a win.

I mean, Nicol Bolas is an ok commander...When your commander Scion of the Ur-Dragon gets in and transforms into him.

I played Bolas as my grixis control finisher. It's fine when you're aiming to finish on t12 or so (and Grixis is great at going long), kills in three and forces an answer right now. These days if I rebuilt the deck, it'd have stayed as Bolas until Sauron, Lord of the Rings came because that's a better finish.

I've only seen this card in conjunction with Phyrexian Unlife.

I used it with Decree of Silence. Just ended up being unfun.
Mirri, Cat Warrior counts as a Cat Warrior.
