The top 6 from Saturday's Challenge lmao

The "Everything's fine" dog is rather appropriate now hehe.
My friends and I have been proxying decks for the last couple of card nights and we've been having a blast. I've built mono blue merfolk and gruul midrange. They're not good meta decks, but they're really fun to play and it's been good. I've started to not really care about anything. I'm broke and just want to play with my friends, so that's what we do. Modern is great if you ignore the top meta.

numbers like that make me surprised scam didn't see a ban a few weeks ago. I enjoy modern a lot but those numbers are crazy

I suspect they care less about Modern's health than avoiding banning newer cards, especially ones supposedly designed for Modern, like Modern Horizons 2 stuff, or printed directly into it like LotR stuff, due to fear of the messaging that would imply for those who spent money on such cards as well as their own pride.motleyslayer wrote: ↑1 year agonumbers like that make me surprised scam didn't see a ban a few weeks ago. I watched a stream of a guy playing merfolk through a league the other day. Tishana's Tidebinder is pretty damn good against those evoke elementals. At least if I understood what was going on correctly hehe.

You'd almost think that was intentional, as if by design.Simto wrote: ↑1 year agoI watched a stream of a guy playing merfolk through a league the other day. Tishana's Tidebinder is pretty damn good against those evoke elementals. At least if I understood what was going on correctly hehe.

I'd be surprised if scam survived this B and R tomorrow. Same with Up the Beanstalk . Those strats seem way too good and people seem to hate playing against them

Would have loved to see Solitude and Grief both go as it would have be wizards acknowledging that they made 3 of them near game breaking as I expect to see Solitude and Grief both go up decently in play numbers upcoming now that fury is gone

next b and r update is 26 August. Think more than just Nadu will be banned in modern?

Nadu in modern, Grief in both modern and legacy. Is my hope / expectation. Doubt Pioneer gets any attention, despite the fact that Vampires is 30% of the meta game and has been for months now.
And people/WOTC wonder why I hesitate to play 60 card these days.

I feel I've seen people getting worried about their copies of One Ring as it's rumoured to be getting banned next
I was surprised they were so thorough before

So long The One Ring, you will not be missed.
Always happy to see unbans. Been begging for Faithless looting to be released for years.

I suspect that Opal came off because they have functionally killed Affinity as a deck due to power creep. And if they're going to give Affinity a shot in the arm, their options on the banned list are pretty limited. It was basically either Opal or some number of the artifact lands, and Opal is probably safer overall.

Opal is really good in the grinding breach decks but I don't think I've seen any other opal decks make an impact on modern. I saw way more people experimenting with looting but it's much cheaper than opal if you need to get themMAGUSZANIN wrote: ↑9 months agoI suspect that Opal came off because they have functionally killed Affinity as a deck due to power creep. tbh I think that breach was the only ban they needed to make for now. Nothing else is really out of line, at least what we know of. Mox Opal was still a risky unban IMO but they'd look foolish if they banned it again right after unbanning it
