@bravelion83
Ill jump into the July games today, though the quality might be subpar tbh.

My musing on the UI is focused on new players specifically, since the site seems to have a higher number of guests logged in these days, but very few new entrants in the much buried C&G page.

@Rithaniel
Glad to hear about your planned return. :)

UB is shorthand for Universes Beyond, which encompasses sets like Fallout, Avatar, and Marvel.

I'll definitely be including more reminder text where appropriate, but for my reference: When were you actively following MTG releases last?
Infinite notions, recombining and blossoming anew. Innumerable reasons to keep going.
Be kind. We are all here to create.

That would be Eldritch Moon, back in 2016, released a full decade ago, as of the 22nd of this month.

For me it was around Theros block when I briefly "returned" to playing MTG, but I didn't keep up with buying cards from there beyond just enough to get a simple deck together, and the format soon enough rotated on me.

I also experimented with MTG Online for a little while, and it was convenient in some ways, allowing me to play MTG at home for borderline free, but it also was potentially a money suck if I allowed myself to be tempted to make small purchases so I can fill out my digital collection with the cards I need for my ideal decks. It's not free in practice and I personally found the concept of paying money for digital cards almost insulting to my intelligence as a consumer. I mostly avoided it but the incentive was to pay a little to crack digital packs to improve your progression with it. Something about that felt almost inherently scammy.

So yes, technically, I'm a custom designer here who pretty much hasn't actually actively played MTG since like 2004 or something, minus my brief return during Theros. I don't actually play MTG anymore because of the money barrier to playing Standard or Modern or getting a collection going again at all, since I unfortunately sold the bulk of my collection back around 2004.

I still "check in" in cycles about what's currently going on with the game though.

@Rithaniel...I believe I should've gotten a point from yesterday.
Yep, that was my mistake. I double-counted the vote for netn10 and then went through and counted up the votes, saw that there were 14, and moved on.

Thanks for pointing it out.

That time might shift during the month, if it does I'll try to give advance warning the day before. We'll use another one of the three lists I had prepared for June, the one about minerals.

Burning Soul 1R
Sorcery (R)
Escalate R (Pay this cost for each mode chosen beyond the first.)
Choose one or more—
• Add RRR. Spend this mana only to cast instant or sorcery spells.
• Target creature deals damage equal to its power to itself.
• Exile the top card of your library. If its mana value is equal to or less than the amount of noncombat damage dealt this turn, you may play that card until end of turn.

HM: bravelion83 (if it helps you cast instants, it should be an instant, imho)
You're right. What happened is that I made the card with only the last two modes as a sorcery, then I added the first mode and forgot to turn it into an instant. It happens.

Towashi Dual-Core WU
Artifact — Vehicle (Uncommon)
Flying, vigilance
Whenever this Vehicle becomes crewed, it has base power and toughness X/Y until end of turn, where X is the total power of the creatures that crewed it and Y is their total toughness.
Crew Twin-Soul 4. (Use two creatures at the same time to crew this vehicle, and only once each turn.)
0/0
it's interesting to see designers still mistaking when to use triggered abilities vs static abilities and replacement effects. we see it every month still, and sometimes i feel like noting it. in this case, since the ability goes on the stack, it'll be a 0/0 and die before the characteristic defining bit takes effect. so you probably want this to use the word "as" rather than "whenever"
