Re: More Basic Lands?
In my case, this is the basic land ratio of my decks: Mono - About 70% basics, with highest # of fetches. If it's a white deck, first turn Land Tax almost always clear out half of my lands, which I think is rather significant in helping draws. 2c - I keep about 5~10 basics, more if playing green, wh...

More Basic Lands?
Given that most spells/effects fetch basic lands, do people ever use more basics in their decks just so they could filter them out more efficiently? To clarify: Given our currently mana base, it's entirely possible to use only one basic land per color for your deck. However, using cards like Land Ta...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Boromir, warden of the Tower is nice, I'll slot at least into Karador, if not more decks It's hilarious to me that it incidentally shuts down Jeweled Lotus / Lion's Eye Diamond / Mana Crypt shenanigans :P I've always believed that since White as a color pie is least adaptive towards cEDH, they shou...

Would probably be threatening if it's a legend, but 40 life really makes it hard to few shot an opponent otherwise.3drinks wrote: ↑1 year agoSunday, May 21st, 2023; Ancient Imperiosaur
I have a feeling this is sneaky good, sneaky low cost and sneaky high power with in-built protection.

Re: Aftermath commander roundup
I'm super tired of "do this → value" commanders, but I suppose that's the "aftermath" of printing so many legends in so little time. Rocco, Street Chef is my favorite, for the same reason you posted. Being able to group hug with fair payback, while open to other shenanigans like ...

Re: Anikthea Token/Tribal
Rule of law and suppression field are both gonna be insanely good. Stony silence too. I think reanimating stax effects as 3/3s with menace seems pretty grotesque and your commander breaks parity with eidolon of rhetoric and rule of law so that's nuts. Suppression Field is a great add, love it. Ooh ...

Re: Anikthea Token/Tribal
Crescendo of War is a card that had some interest to me in my mono-white creature deck. Note only YOUR blocking creatures get the buff, but everyone's attacking creatures get the buff. So that makes for an interesting dynamic for combat. If your stuff has vigilance, you are looking real good. True ...

Anikthea Token/Tribal
Anikthea, Hand of Erebos I want to design an Anikthea deck with more token and/or tribal approach. Aside from Growing Ranks / Endless Ranks of the Dead which grow on their own, I'm looking for cards like Necromancer's Covenant , Liliana's Mastery , and Intangible Virtue to turn tokens into legitima...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Anikthea, Hand of Erebos is nice but I have mixed feelings about it. My issue is like...why is enchantress all graveyard or storm themed? Like can we not think of anything else? :P You can always pick Tatsunari, Toad Rider and go Words of Waste / Words of Wilding / Words of Wind . I suppose it's te...

Arena let you draw cards during upkeep, which suits strategies that negates your draw step. (Such as Necropotence, Taigam, Sidisi's Hand, etc.)

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
So far Anikthea, Hand of Erebos intrigues me the most. A lot of shenanigans to be had beyond enchantress, such as zombie, stax, etc. Token Contamination that populates itself via Growing Ranks/Song of the Worldsoul would be fun.
I'd collect Guff's deck because it's Guff.

Re: Alternate Planechase Rules
My group plays "map" style. The table shares the same planes deck, each time a new plane comes into play the current player chooses which direction it connects to the old plane. Each player can only planeslwalk to a new plane or an old plane directly adjacent to current location. You need ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Wouldn't you exile your entire library because it's not a may ability? It's roughly comparable to Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius + Curiosity - your opponents will die if you have more cards in deck than their life total. Otherwise you can just target a creature with All Will Be One to stop the loop. I fin...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Inquisitor Eisenhorn
Sunday, April 9th, 2023; Inquisitor Eisenhorn Inquisitor Eisenhorn I like the card. Card draw and artifact generation is always a good thing, the demon is more like an added aggression than fodder. As Dunadain puts it, quantity is more important when it comes to saccing. I think Elsenhorn is leanin...

Sakashima Syndrome
Sakashima of a Thousand Faces / Sakashima the Impostor / Spark Double , and to less extent Helm of the Host . I've been experiencing temptation on including these for any commander with tap/once-per-turn activation/trigger abilities. I'm not strictly talking about broken stuff, even someone as jank...

I don't like Horsemanship very much at all. There are already too many characters on horses without it already (compare to flying). Why do some of them have Horsemanship and others not? Am I to believe Syr Gwyn, Hero of Ashvale is merely an amateur equestrian? Maybe it simply means those previous h...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Has a mix of card draw and token production is a nice blend that allows a couple different strategies. Best part is that the tokens have lifelink! Skullclamp and Well of Lost Dreams will exponentially increase the production each turn. I gotta say though, precons aren't exceptionally interesting th...

Compare that to Shorikai, Genesis Engine and it's not really even close. Most commanders fall short when compare to Shorikai though. :3 That said, I notice ZaO also triggers on damaging a Battle, which means you can technically get multiple triggers against the same player by attacking Battles, in ...

Zurgo and Ojutai , man things must be dire on Tarkir for Ojutai to let Zurgo ride him like that. She Who Grieves 2UR Legendary Creature - Spirit 2/4 Whenever one or more creature cards are put into a graveyard from a library, choose one of them. Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Reprieve is effectively a white Remand . I assume that has some implications, given that the set is going to be Modern-legal. At the very least, it's a nice addition to white's toolbox, which is currently pretty light on stack interaction. (also: Sunforger ) Preventing your own spell from being cou...
