Virulent Silencer
Based on rulings for Alela, Cunning Conqueror, this card would do its damage twice if it had double strike. But as written, will EVERY non-token artifact creature generate poison counters at least once per combat, or will it happen only once OVERALL per combat damage step?

Every nontoken artifact creature that deals combat damage to an opponent will cause that player to get 2 poison counters. So, if you had this and a Memnite, and you were able to get both to deal damage to the same player, that player would be dealt 3 damage and receive 4 poison counters.
And yes, Double strike would cause the creature to deal combat damage twice so the player would get 4 poison counters from that creature if they are dealt combat damage by it.
