The reskin art actually looks pretty good. This would be a perfectly fine set to blend the mechanics with Thunder Junction with outlaws, villians, commiting crimes, all that jazz.

LETS %$#% GO MTGO has Through the Omenpaths instead of Spoodermon.

I thought that was Arena only. I may actually pick up a few of the more interesting cards since they're not UB and now I don't have to sit across from some half ass villain character Stan Lee cranked out in the 60s to meet a deadline.

I mean, the set overall still kind of sucks but this is huge. There's some genuinely LIT art and in universe flavor in this thing.


Further: the set is OM1. That implies they expect to do this again, and Omenpaths maybe the go to for "withining" UB.

I don't really get hyped for Magic cards anymore outside of the occasional very strange Legend design but the Lorwyn cards I've seen so far are pretty cool.

Lorwyn definitely seems to be going hard on nostalgia. New Figure of Destiny variant, new Bitterblossom, new Sigg.

That's not a bad thing exactly, but it makes me a bit worried about the set lacking substance overall.

New Bitterblossom goes right into Erebos, Bleak-Hearted. That said, I agree that the seeming lack of imagination on some of these worries me. If the next in universe set is as bad as Spider-Man then I fear the worst for the future of this game. Edge of Eternities was definitely a big hit for me and Dragonstorm was my favorite set in a long time, but that momentum can only last so long.

Three thoughts:

1- These cards are likely leaks from a preview panel this Friday as a tease of set.

2- It will also be 19 years since Lorwyn 1 came out, so there is also a lot of players who don't know what this sets theme and setting are like.

3- Lorwyn is also said to be like Kamigawa 2.0, a do over on a plane that got bad feedback on both the setting and cards. So like Kamigawa 2.0 vs Kamigawa 1, I'm guessing the cards mechincs and set themes will be focused differently. We def will see the typal stuff but it likely won't be the core feature of the set as that was a weakness of Lorwyn 1 and from other sets the lesson has been a little goes a long way for typal themes.

so makes sense why maybe the first things we see are more on the nostalgia end and any "new" elements are being saved for its spoiler season.
