An idea, can we expand finality counters to other permanents?
Unyielding Will
Enchantment — Aura (C)
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature gets +1/+0 and has vigilance.
Retether (You may cast this card from your graveyard for its retether cost. If you do, put an ending counter on it.)
Maybe change the name from finality to something else because it technically needs new rules since finality only refers to creatures?
(If a permanent you control with an ending counter on it would be put into a graveyard from the battlefield, exile it instead)

I like the idea but would prefer a more flavorful wording / term than Ending counter.Venedrex wrote: ↑4 months agoAn idea, can we expand finality counters to other permanents?

Wait, we can have titles?
Random idea time, quite possibly dumb, but inspired by someone talking about wanting more 2 color partner options and wotc never printing more because they'd be OP.
My brilliant idea to make it work? Give them the most hated commander mechanic of all time, known for being well-balanced!
OK, hear me out:
Haggaroth, Reviler of Artifice
Legendary Creature — Troll Shaman (R)
Eminence — Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, if Haggaroth is in the command zone or on the battlefield, you lose 1 life for each color in your commander's color identity.
At the beginning of your end step, if a creature you control attacked this turn, scry 1.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
3/3
Trying to give it something without being very good... sorta of difficult.

OK, back with some more crazy ideas.
First up, after hearing some feedback (which was correct) about some ideas I'm trying to go back over some of them and see if they can be fixed at all.
Envision 4
(Rather than cast this card from your hand, you may exile it face down with 8 time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. During a later turn you may pay to turn it face up and remove up to X plus [4] time counters from it, then casting it if there are no more time counters on it.)
I know that's very confusing and maybe its because this idea is stupid. But let me try to explain lol. Basically, you exile a card with envision face down. Let's say its a 4 mv creature. Like all envision cards, it will be exiled with 8 time counters on it. You can then just weight for eight turns and cast it by paying 1 colored mana and flipping it up. OR you can turn it face up on any turn after you envision it. When you pay to turn it face up, it will reduce the time you have to wait by however much mana the card is, so the 4 mv creature being flipped face up would remove 4 time counters automatically, plus however much mana you want to spend to reduce the time further.
So I could envision a 4 mv creature, leave it face down for eight turns, then pay 1 colored mana to flip and cast it. But that would be kind of silly because I can remove 4 time counters just by paying 1 mana and flipping it, so I should always do that if I can to make it faster. BUT, I can also, if I have spare mana, cast the spell even faster by making the X in the cost 1 or more mana, reducing the time even further.
So, long and complicated story short, all card with this mechanic can be exiled face down with 8 time counters on them, you can then pay at least 1 colored mana (for balance reasons to avoid color pie issues) to flip the card, and if you have spare mana, pay more colorless mana to speed it up, to then cast the card if there are no time counters. Of course, unless you are mana crimped you should try to flip and play on the same turn, so you don't have to waste 1 mana playing the card after having already flipped it face up. But there it is. Likely extremely complicated and just worse than foretell/suspend. Oh well.
EDIT: In hindsight maybe only my terrible explanation is confusing, the actual templating seems somewhat understandable lol.
Basically the thought is to try to have suspend but where your opponent doesn't get to see the card ahead of time (unless you let them for mana purposes) and you can control the time of by spending mana during your turns.
P.S.
Reworked templating

So yeah basically it is suspend but flipped around a bit, and no more giving haste to the creature because I think that with the option to spend mana to speed it up, you won't likely get too impatient for your creature since you can bring it out faster if you want.

OK, I have had a flash of inspiration. Maybe crazy, but here goes:
Power 4 Or Greater Enchantment Draw Engine
Enchantment
Whenever a creature you control with power 4 or greater enters, draw a card.
Split
You may cast this spell for its split cost. If you do, it becomes an Aura in addition to its other types and gains "Enchant creature you control". Create a copy of it. (A copy of a permanent spell becomes a token).
So yeah, basically you can double up on your enchantments, but only if you are willing to run the risk inherent to using auras. (and you have to have creatures of course).
