If you copy the spell, you copy any text added via Splice as well.
Once it leaves the stack though, it is a new object. It won't retain any added text in the yard which means if it is cast again, it is a "fresh" spell. If you want the spliced text, you need to splice onto it again

Re: Are Players a Source They Control?
This is the rule for sources of abilities: 113.7. The source of an ability is the object that generated it. The source of an activated ability on the stack is the object whose ability was activated. The source of a triggered ability (other than a delayed triggered ability) on the stack, or one that ...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
I like deckbuilding games and so does my girlfriend. But she primarily likes playing them cooperatively which limits our choices. We generally play Marvel Legendary which is good and Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle but I have been trying to find another game we could play. I actually like Harry Potter ...

Re: Replacement Effects, Who Has Control
Since "random internet person said it works this way" isn't the greatest argument, here is the main rule for this interaction: 616.1. If two or more replacement and/or prevention effects are attempting to modify the way an event affects an object or player, the affected object's controller...

Re: Replacement Effects, Who Has Control
You, as the affected player (or, if targeting a permanent, the controller of the affected object) get to choose the relative order of the replacement effects. So, you can apply Mechanized Warfare last to ensure the 1 is doubled to 2 and then Warfare adds one to that to get to 3. You could do it the ...

1) It will be a 6/6. Because the copy effect sets the Power and/or Toughness, the Characteristic Defining Ability of the Scavenger isn't even copied at all. See 707.9d: 707.9d. When applying a copy effect that doesn't copy a certain characteristic, retains one or more original values for a certain c...

Re: Where art thou Colossi?
The Colossus is shuffled in at the same time as the other cards are milled. Yes, there is a dexterity component to it that the person playing will need to physically set aside Colossus so they can shuffle it back in but the in game action is that you milled 5 cards at one time and instead of one of ...

Re: Can Only attack alone plus goad.
In general, you need to obey as many requirements as possible without breaking any restrictions. So, you will just choose one of them to attack since they can only attack alone. You do need to attack with at least one, but you won't be able to attack with both due to their own restriction. Note that...

Re: Where art thou Colossi?
It is effectively the second option. Mill, as opposed to drawing cards, is one complete action. So, if Tome Scour is cast (ignoring the fact that it is a Sorcery; I just wanted a mill card referenced), that is one event of "Mill 5 cards". So, the entire event takes place, as modified by th...

Re: Block any number and banding
Unless I am misunderstanding what you are trying to do, there is no special interaction here. You use Avatar of Hope to block 5 creatures. You then use the Banding creature to block one of the same creatures as the Avatar. For that attacking creature, and that creature only (since it is the only one...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Hallowed Burial
I am with Mookie on the Wrath of God debate. I play White in more decks than any other color and I usually have a fair amount of wraths in general. And I haven't played Wrath of God in a deck in years. White just has so many other options that WOG doesn't make the cut in most cases. As mentioned tho...

Re: Indominus Rex and Clones
You will be able to do both effects. As the Clone enters, you do its own Replacement Effect. Once that applies, the game then checks to see if any other Replacement Effects should apply. And there is: Rex's own effect so you will get to do that effect now. 616.1c. If any of the replacement and/or pr...

Re: Indominus Rex, Alpha
It is worth pointing out that Knight of Malice will grant Indominus Rex, Alpha "Hexproof from White", not the Hexproof ability as a whole. When dealing with cards like this, the specific variant is what is granted. Rule 122.1b allows for Keyword counters for the Variants and the Card Rulin...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Now, with all of that being said, I will offer the same caveat that I would have offered in the Judge Chat whenever a Panglacial Wurm question came up: scenarios with Panglacial Wurm aren't really really scenarios and aren't really worth diving into too deeply to get a real answer. They are theoryc...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
edit: okay, so possibly this does not work: 500.3. A step in which no players receive priority ends when all specified actions that take place during that step are completed. The only such steps are the untap step (see rule 502) and certain cleanup steps (see rule 514). So that would imply that, wh...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Boldwyr Intimidator
@WizardMN I guess that makes sense, I still don't like that the same words can effect different sets of things though. If you wanted to remake Kardur to only effect things currently on-board, how would that work? "Each creature your opponents control"? I had intuited that putting the timi...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Dress Down
@Mookie I understand all of that quite well, I'm just saying that if the technology exists for Kardur to work the way he does, I see no reason it couldn't work for an instant version of Dress Down. If Kardur was worded "until your next turn, your opponents must attack with all their creatures....

If I have Ojer and Torbran out and I deal non combat damage to my opponent, will they take 4 or 6? Both Ojer and Torbran are replacement effects, so you can choose the order in which they apply. Seems vague (where is the line where you can still recognize the art?) and unnecessary, but I haven't played in a tournament in years, and never a tournament big enough to worry about enforcing rules like these. This would be a judgment call for the head judge but, to be honest, I think it is the m...

If you play the deck and 34 is often enough, then I say go for it. I know everyone has their own ideas but you can probably play it as is and tweak the land count as you go if you feel you need to. That is a good point on Bloom Tender. I was figuring that it would normally be 2 mana so it might be w...

If you want the deck header to match your decks colors, you can just do this in the deck tag: [deck="The Trudge Cafe" style="Golgari" view="list" shadow="2" order="fixed"] This gets you this: Commander 1 Gyome, Master Chef Notice that the "style...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Ertai's Meddling
plus there are some cards (like counterspells and X spells) that get negated entirely. While it basically does negate counterspells, it doesn't do as much to X spells. This is because it doesn't have them recast the spell. It puts it onto the stack as a copy of the original spell. And X is copied i...
