Re: Can I cast Bolt Bend with mana from Crystalline Crawler?

Yes. The way the casting process works, the reduced cost is locked in before you have to activate mana abilities to pay for it, By then, it doesn't matter that the Crawler doesn't have 4 power anymore.

Re: Runed Halo and paper

Absolutely fine and dandy and commendable, as long as you don't write on these pieces of paper prior to a game in progress, only while a game is in progress, and you don't put these pieces of paper inside of sleeves and shuffle them in.

Re: Licid "End this effect" Confusion

In the case of your first question, there are two effects for which you need to pay in order for the Licid to revert back to a creature. Doesn't matter in which order you pay, the Licid will not move to the previous creature because of this. The "attach" part of the Licid's ability is a on...

Re: Mikaeus and animated objects.

Yes, the card will return in both cases. Undying works based on the fact that the permanent was a creature and had undying as it last existed on the battlefield, it doesn't need it to be a creature card to bring it back to the battlefield, nor to put a +1/+1 counter on it. The card usually returns a...

Re: Horror of the Broken Lands

Absolutely. For a triggered ability, each matching trigger event is considered individually, no matter if it happens simultaneously with another instance of the same event, even as part of applying a single effect or paying a single cost (like in Collective Brutality's case). The Horror sees two eve...

Re: Grumgully combo

You can stop the combo that way, yes. You can't respond to the sacrifice itself, nor to the Prospector's ability since it's a mana ability and it doesn't use the stack, but you can respond to persist, which is a normal triggered ability and uses the stack. With Redcap in the graveyard and its persis...

Re: Adventure question

Yes. When cast, Granted becomes an actual sorcery spell on the stack, which can be countered by Spell Pierce. Even if that spell is represented by the Fae of Wishes card, on the stack, the creature characteristics don't exist, it is only Granted. If it is countered, the Fae of Wishes card goes to it...

Re: Rankle, Master of Pranks Madness Question

Your assumption is correct, it's all one triggered ability, so nothing else will go on the stack until the ability is done resolving. So a madness creature discarded to the 1st mode will not be on the battlefield to be sacrificed to the 3rd mode.

Re: Oko and Manifest

Ha! I forgot that it would still just be a 3/3 Elk! That's pretty funny. Thanks for the response, is there a specific line in the rules that would define the flipping? Or is it pretty much what I found already? The rule that allows one to turn a manifested card face-up if it's a creature card is th...

Re: Adorned Pouncer + rancor

Yes. Double strike alone wouldn't allow you to damage the player if your creature is blocked, as it remains a blocked creature even if its blockers are gone by the second, "normal" combat damage step, and a blocked creature without trample or a similar ability can't have its damage assigne...

Re: Torbran, Thane of Red Fell interaction with damage

Hummm, this is a bit confusing on why the person receiving the damage gets to decide how much damage they take. Could you explain a little bit further, or give a different, similar effect that works this way? I get how it can be confusing that you have no control on how your own effects apply to yo...

Re: Torbran, Thane of Red Fell and 0/1 Red tokens

Here's the rule :
614.7a. If a source would deal 0 damage, it does not deal damage at all. Replacement effects that would increase the damage dealt by that source, or would have that source deal that damage to a different object or player, have no event to replace, so they have no effect.

Re: Torbran, Thane of Red Fell interaction with damage

All of these are replacement effects, recognizable by the presence of the words "if" and "instead". Such effects modify an event as it happens (here, an event of damage). The interaction of multiple such effects doesn't involve the priority system or whose turn it is; how they ap...

Re: Eldrazi Mimic question

Yes, the Mimic would end up 5/5 in total. Vile Aggregate enters 4/5 (3 base power from you controlling 3 colorless creatures, +1/+0 from Ruination Guide) so that's what Mimic's base p/t becomes, and it gets the +1/+0 from Ruination Guide on top of that. I'll mention in passing that Mimic's ability d...

Re: Bringing commanders back from exile

You won't be able to return the Horde if you champion it and put it in the command zone, no. This is because, like Oblivion Ring , Champion uses two separate triggered abilities for the exile and the return, and the return triggered ability looks for the card in the exile zone only. 702.71a. Champio...

Re: Painter's Servant/Grindstone/Leyline of the Void

The Leyline won't affect your opponent anyway if they're the Leyline's controller. But let's say you control all 3 permanents and you are targeting your opponent with Grindstone. Then yes, the combo still works, the cards simply are exiled instead of put in the graveyard. Changing the cards' destina...

Re: Commanders and the Deck

It very much looks like it's being put into the library from "anywhere" that anywhere just happens to be the library. Whenever a card changes position, other than becoming closer to the top by drawing, it is being 'put' somewhere from somewhere and the commander rules is failry explicit t...

Re: Commanders and the Deck

No, they wouldn't. The following rule is what governs the putting in the command zone : 903.9. If a commander would be exiled from anywhere or put into its owner's hand, graveyard, or library from anywhere, its owner may put it into the command zone instead. This replacement effect may apply more th...

Re: Gitrog, Chains, Notion Thief and Dakmor Salvage

Yes, this works. Do note that Chains applies to the draws that Notion Thief would give to your opponent, but as long as they had a card in hand to begin with and they don't interfere in any way, that just means they discard before drawing each time, they will still draw out if you repeat the loop en...

Re: Endless Whispers and delayed triggers

Without pulling out the exact rules, each player chooses the order of their controlled triggers if they trigger at the same time. This usually applies with triggered effects like "At the start of your upkeep" or similar. Since the effect is on the creatures itself and not the permanent, t...
