Just how much color bending do you think is acceptable/manageable for this?

Per contemporary MTG standards, a pure 2 mana counterspell is typically considered overpowered. In the case of the pure 2 mana counterspells, I've compensated for that with limitations you have to play around.

Otherwise, I'm sticking to 3 or more mana and/or making it force a choice on your opponent / be rhystic in nature, making it more temporary, or finding some way to be a psuedo-counterspell without directly being one.

Astral Vacuum
Enchantment (U)
Flash
When Astral Vacuum enters the battlefield, exile target spell until Astral Vacuum leaves the battlefield. (That spell resolves.)

Purity of Will
Instant (U)
Counter target spell if it was cast from exile or a graveyard.

Vecna's Bargain
Instant (U)
Counter target spell unless its controller pays life equal to its converted mana cost.

Energy Drain
Instant (U)
You may only cast this spell from your graveyard.
Counter target spell.

Zerthimon's Will
Instant (U)
You may only cast this spell from exile.
Counter target spell.

Flux of Limbo
Instant (U)
Exile target spell until the beginning of your next end step. (That spell resolves.)

Aoskar's Word
Instant (U)
Counter target artifact or colorless spell.

Much the same deal with off-color direct damage, comparing to Lightning Bolt. Lightning Bolt is overpowered per contemporary design as well, so I took a similar strategy here as with counterpsells:

Astral Bolt
Instant (U)
You may only play Astral Bolt from exile.
Astral Bolt deals 3 damage to any target.

Celestial Beam
Instant (R)
Celestial Beam deals 3 damage to each attacking creature. Creatures destroyed this way are exiled instead of going to their owner's graveyard.

Psionic Blast
Instant (U)
As an additional cost to play Psionic Blast, exile a card from your hand with converted mana cost 3 or less.
Psionic Blast deals damage to any target equal to the exiled card's converted mana cost.

Negative Energy Bolt
Instant (U)
You may only play Negative Energy Bolt from your graveyard.
Negative Energy Bolt deals 3 damage to any target.

Gaea's Wrath
Instant (U)
Gaea's Wrath deals 3 damage to any colorless target. (A player is colorless if any of their permanents are colorless.)

Pull of Gravity
Sorcery (U)
Pull of Gravity deals 3 damage to each creature and player with flying. (A player has flying if any of their creatures have flying.)

Two additional approaches for white and green counterpells that occurs to me:

Purge Necromancy
Instant (C)
Counter target spell if it was played from a graveyard.

This is perfectly on-color as an anti-black / necro sideboard card basically.

Natural Grounding
Instant (C)
Counter target spell if it was played from exile.

Anti-red/white hoser variant on much the same idea.

Really like the white and black counterspells. Nice twists/restrictions that fit their colors. Energy Drain should exile itself afterward, of course.

Vecna's Bargain could cost less... I think 1B would be fine.

Gaea's Wrath is interesting and a fine way to do green dd. The added rule about colorless players is weird... it could just be written out on the card instead of making it a rule. Also, lands are colorless permanents, so players would pretty much always be considered colorless. Might make more sense to count players as colorless only if *all* permanents they control are colorless.
