Re: Taii Wakeen, Perfect Shot
I ended up playing the deck in some cEDH games and it did well. But I have to admit the main reason was because in each game there was at least one stax player to slow the games down and this worked perfectly into the more controlling game plan of the deck. So this speaks volumes to if I did want to...

Re: Indominus Rex
I can see the appeal of getting one extra power on Indominus Rex (7x3=21). You've got some lands by design that do this with Cathedral of War , Opal Palace , Tyrite Sanctum . Llanowar Reborn , Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers , Vastwood Thicket are other options. Valentin, Dean of the Vein has a co...

Re: Eris, Roar of the Storm - is a fun spellslinger commander possible? [WIP]
I played my first Battle ever today and realized that "transforming" is casting, so you can get two cast triggers with the same card in a turn. The prowess 4/4 flyers are perfect for attacking these as you just need to connect with one as the are all 4 or 5 defense. I really like this idea...

Re: The Pride of Hull Clade - The Best Offense is Good Defense
I finally put this deck together and played some games. The first thing that was obvious was casting The Pride of Hull Clade was extremely easy with the cost reduction. Very much to the point of overkill. The second thing that I found is that I didn't consistently have enough u to activate the 2uu a...

Re: Ghired's Cloned Stampede
Actually, and I know this sounds crazy, but yes. Drumbellower is better in THIS VERSION of the deck since we don't have all that much to do with instants right now. Bellower is a lil' bit less powerful but being only 3 mana and still getting to untap our creatures actually does push it out over Mus...

Re: making multiple monocolor decks
I make VERY Commander centric decks, so it will depend on what the Commander does, but in general I will be making them because I get to make a unique 99.
But in general I find Green to have the most commonly shared cards and themes between decks.

Re: Ghired's Cloned Stampede
Too many? There's 1 actual haste enabler and a semi in Thousand-Year Elixir. That's too many? o.o Hammer of Purphoros Is it better than Drumbellower though? I know bellower doesn't' do the whole initiative thing, but being tutorable is a pretty big deal. Is Drumbellower better than Seedborn Muse ? ...

Hi, good job on starting a primer! The way you have it formatted isn't how deck lists are normally posted and is quite hard to read. I've posted the usual way in the spoiler below and it has the advantage that you and others can use the analysis tools to check stats of the deck. You can just reply t...

Re: Imodane - Why is the burn deck gaining life?
I was thinking of ways to utilize the life gain and my Greven deck has Immolating Souleater , Treasonous Ogre , Moltensteel Dragon . With Imodane lifelink I could see using Treasonous Ogre to fuel x cards like Purphoros's Intervention , Shatterskull Smashing , Mishra's Command . Moltensteel Dragon m...

Re: 5c Mana Base
Even though you say the theme doesn't dictate your mana, the 99 still matters a lot. How many early plays are necessary and is that skewed to particular colors? My 5-color Niv-Mizzet Reborn deck doesn't have any plays until turn three so I can afford quite a few tapped lands. Most decks have some ty...

Re: [MH3] Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student - Turn 4, draw half your deck
64% chance to Thassa combo the table by turn 4? Sounds like this deck list belongs in the cEDH sub. No offense. Fast mana and free counters support this conclusion. I guess the main draw is that getting Tamiyo out turn 1 reduces your threat surface to counterspells since loyalty abilities cannot be...

[MH3] Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student - Turn 4, draw half your deck
https://i.ibb.co/d65t8y3/tam.jpg This is a mid-range value deck ... ahh psych. This deck has one goal in mind and that is to -7 and draw half your deck and do this as quickly as possible. The plan is to ultimate on Turn 4 consistently. There are essentially three mains ways this can happen, but the...

Re: Will & Rowan Kenrith - Sparks of Ice and Fire (Superfriends)
Nothing in Thunder Junction stood out to me for this deck. Jace Reawakened doesn't seem to fit in, you are more often than not casting Will (or Rowen) on turn 4. The plot is cost isn't reduced by Wills ability in anyway. A card that I had really took notice of is Staff of Compleation . I've noticed ...

Re: Eris, Roar of the Storm - is a fun spellslinger commander possible? [WIP]
Stella Lee, Wild Card and Jori En, Ruin Diver don't help you if you are behind. They can be one of those really bad top deck cards. Where as at least Traverse Eternity is going to be great if you are out of gas, but comes with a risk. I like Wavebreak Hippocamp , Archmage Emeritus and Ojer Pakpatiq...

Re: Eris, Roar of the Storm - is a fun spellslinger commander possible? [WIP]
That's useful analysis, I hadn't bothered to check yet. Good to know though, I'll cut some of those numbers down. I think the case is probably still worth it? Costs a little bit more but it really does everything we want. I would cut all of them but Thunderclap Drake . There has to be a hero play w...

Re: Eris, Roar of the Storm - is a fun spellslinger commander possible? [WIP]
The deck is looking sweet. With the instant/sorcery cost reducers, if you look at cards that are probably going to be cast for free ( Fierce Guardianship , Submerge , etc) and those that you are cycling then your actual targets are only 20. There are 23 cards that can leverage Sapphire Medallion in ...

Re: SCD: Freestrider Lookout
Most fetchlands you mention are either rather pricey or bad compared to basic forests. Amulet of Vigor effects would make the strategy work more smoothly, but the chances of hitting none of those 23 lands is roughly 20% per Lookout trigger. Running cards just to support the Lookout weakens your dec...

Re: SCD: Freestrider Lookout
Bristly Bill, Spine Sower could be your Commander and combine with all the lands that tap and sacrifice to get Forest like Evolving Wilds . There are 23 of them that can do this. The idea is that you put these into play off Freestrider Lookout and just wait until each players turn to actually crack...

Re: SCD: Freestrider Lookout
Freestrider Lookout reminds me a lot of Rootpath Purifier in that it looks amazing if built around, but on its own it might not do anything. A deck that has a lot of counterspells and removal would suite Freestrider Lookout . I did a spell count check and have 18 cards that target in my cEDH Tymna/...

I started drafting a Marchesa, Dealer of Death so I've got some ideas around committing crimes in Grixis. Other ways to get multiple triggers in a turn with fewer resources. Snapcaster Mage and Mission Briefing even though they exile a card from graveyard its more than likely that you'll target a one mana card which you'll have lots of. Founding the Third Path is perfect on every chapter, even the mill ...

High Tide , Dramatic Reversal , Turnabout . So this is an example where I haven't run these old staples and don't have a full idea how they end up playing in practice, so perhaps I'm underestimating them. In my mind, if I'm only exiling one or two cards at a time, would it be safe to run cards like...
