Looking for 4 balanced decks for a group.
Our group wants to try some cedh and proxy up some decks that are well-balanced in terms of interaction and power. I know this is a deep topic with a lot of possible answers, but I'm speaking in fairly general terms. In your experience with cedh, what would a make a fun pod of 4 in terms of the curr...

Re: Grenzo, Dungeon Warden - The Slot Machine of Value
Not that we have a lot of slots that are flex, but the two new partners from the Crimson Vow vampire deck are decent. Laurine, the Diversion and Kamber, the Plunderer for reference. We don't care tooo much about goading, but it can be useful and the sac outlet on Laurine is useful. And if we flip he...

Disturb mechanic aura cards
Re cards like Mirrorhall Mimic , when you cast them for their disturb cost will it count as casting an enchantment? I'm asking in regard to triggering cards like Enchantress's Presence that look for the casting rather than the etb of the enchantment. The rule I'm seeing says - When you cast a spell ...

Re: Need "non-global" suggestions against counter-ramp
No one has mentioned Ward of Bones why? I usually feel this card just sets me back a turn rather than restricting my opponents because of its mana value. It shuts down Exploration type effects but doesn't stop them from casting actual ramp spells. But I also know I haven't tested it enough to be su...

Bereaved Survivor actually seems like a decent mini Alesha, Who Smiles at Death . Mostly I like the flavor, has that DC super hero backstory feel to it!

Re: A Matter of Time Consumption
I totally understand making a cool complex machine of a deck that you want to see perform in a real game, and I think Treamayne has it in a nutshell, Rule 0 that deck. Are people okay with you trotting that deck out for one game to see how it goes? If not, don't be offended if other people want to p...

Re: Letting your emotions tell you how to play
Every decision we make is grounded in emotion, even those of us who proclaim to be super rational still ultimately make decisions based on emotion. But I think this answers your question, or what you're looking for - I definitely tend to watch my emotions in relation to MTG and EDH. I've designated ...

Re: Overvaluing Synergy at the Cost of Tempo
There's an element of fun in the "machine" of your deck working and an element of fun in being able to interact well and keep up with the table, if not win the game. I think in deciding whether to value synergy or tempo more in your deck you have to decide where on that spectrum you are. W...

Re: Esika Oath Control - Brainstorming
I know it messes with the purity of your deck goals since it's not as beefy as your other creatures, but Faeburrow Elder is still a 5/5 vigilance with Bridge out and if you're stuck with any of your fatties in hand, or want to hard cast Kozi, would certainly help you out. I also think, depending on ...

Re: Trying to better understand how to optimize for non-cEDH play style (LONG!)
AGENCY is one of the most important factors for me in a game, in the sense that I was able to do something during the game, that I was able to interact with others and form an experience, that my deck did something besides sit on 3 lands the entire game. The two biggest detriments to this in my expe...

Re: Which commanders from AFR/AFC are you interested in brewing/building?
Varis, Silverymoon Ranger Despite the weird name (why is it silvery and not just silver?) this is the commander I plan on using to play with the dungeon mechanic. Elfball into the dungeon! Really I want to build Ellywick Tumblestrum as a commander, so I guess she'll be the secret commander. Though ...

Re: Hidden Gems, What's yours?
For me, it would have to be Dissipation Field . Although it doesn't prevent alpha strikes (also bad against creatures with etb triggers), so far I found that it deters my opponents sending attackers my way since they don't want to waste time recasting their creatures afterwards. It also works great...

Re: July 2021 Banlist Announcement
Feels bad to have bought a card you thought was cool and find out it was a waste of money for sure. Even if it's a good idea to temper your spending based on the fact that the RC will ban cards regardless of their price, most of use have gotten burned on a card purchase before one way or another. Yo...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Currently trying to decide between making a Visara the Dreadful nostalgia deck with a bunch of haste/untap/voltron stuff, or a Mila, Crafty Companion // Lukka, Wayward Bonder deck around the lukka side, focused on achieving and maximising Warstorm Surge value. Any opinions? I watch an old school Ba...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
I was/am iffy on the IP crossover, but I kinda dig the dungeon mechanic. It's not powerful, but it's interesting and potentially fun. I think if you have a blink deck why not put and etb dungeon creature in and go to town. For a commander I can imagine a tap to enter the dungeon one over a Mana sink...

Re: Thought Exercise: Changing the Commander Tax
I actually like the suspend 2 idea, represents two land drops which without ramp would be about when you'd cast your commander again. Other possibilities might be only being able to cast your commander once per turn.

Maybe Roil Elemental to take advantage of those consistent land drops. Not sure about your budget or cards you have, but Bribery on the green player for their Azusa, or Oracle of Mul Daya, or sim. Or a clone or two for when they play one of those. I agree on some manlands, they can chain smaller veh...

Actually one of my shared decks is a grixis shell that goes between Thraximundar and Marchesa, the Black Rose. The latter is a modular artifact build.

Modular deck building, my new method.
My deck building often suffers from me trying to shove too many ideas in a deck. For example, my Sigarda, Host of Herons deck started out as a deck focused on landing Brisela, Voice of Nightmares . It's Innistrad themed and also has a lot of little dudes. Including Fiend Hunter , Sun Titan , and Saf...

Re: Kethis, the Hidden Hand - Historic & Taxes
Migration Path over Skyshroud because then if you have Gaddock Teeg out you could just cycle it. I use it instead of Skyshroud in all my decks that want a 4 mana get 2 lands card. Rankle, Master of Pranks is good in your deck since if you choose sac a creature you can get it back for value. Same po...

Re: Building a "Sunforger package"
If you're going the Sunforger route I definitely recommend Brass Squire and if you have the metalcraft support Puresteel Paladin . The squire lets you instant speed equip Sunforger to use it again, and you can always equip to the brass squire if Shu Yun is being crapped on. Of course this leads to a...
