Great submissions everybody, this is gonna be close. If anyone has any last minute submissions, I'll accept them and add them until I've finished here in a bit.
Judging in progress
Main factors in judgement:
1. How unlikely are they?
2. Is the alliance represented mechanically?
3. Is the alliance represented thematically?
2. Mechanically it doesn't feel like two mages working together, more like two mages just sorta doing their own thing, just happen to be standing near each other.
3. Thematically it does come across, i can see Jace and Rowan represented well.
2. Mechanically it comes across. I can see the dual aspect represented.
3. Thematically it works as well. It feels like Ugin and Bolas working together.
2. The alliance definitely comes across mechanically. I would not want to mess with these guys working together.
3. Very cool theme. I want to know how a cat and a frog came to be allies. And how they got other cats and frogs to work together.
2. Spot on mechanically. I can see the elf and orc represented, and they work very well together.
3. Thematically its great. Callback to Apocalypse is cool, and it fits very well with the theme. It feels like an Elf Shaman and Orc Warrior working together.
2. Mechanically it's a bit of a miss for me. I can see what you're going for, but it doesn't come across as well as I'd like.
3. Thematically it's a very cool idea, and something I would like to see.
2. Mechanically, it comes through in some ways, although it feels a little disjointed. Eldrazi Dragon is a nice touch tho.
3. Thematically its all there. Ugin and Emrakul are gonna extinguish all life in the multiverse and it's gonna be unstoppable. Well done.
(Edit: I just realized Emrakul is controlling Ugin, lol, nice touch)
2. Great mechanically and acornlink is awesome. It's abilities work well together.
3. Yeah sure, why not? My first thought was Acornelia would work with the one of the infernal spawn, but the idea of acornelia breaking Griselbrand out of prison and helping to take over Innistrad is way better, and way more unlikely, so this is great.
Winner picked. That was a tough call.

1. Two blue mages working together doesnt seem too unlikely, although im sure there are reasons im unaware of that would make them unlikely. They probably wouldnt like each other much i guess, and also probably never run into each other so, kinda unlikely.vishamon wrote: ↑3 years agoWill and Jace

1. Highly unlikely. Trying to figure out just how an Eldrazi ends up working with an Ally. The flavor text implies it's just sorta ambivalent, as I imagine an interplanar entity would be, so that follows.NinjaCaterpie wrote: ↑3 years agoBrood Warden

1. Ugin and Emrakul working together? Hmm, this is kind of a tough one. Seeing as he tried to preserve them before, i could see some explanation for how they ended up together. It's still extremely unlikely, but maybe Ugin just got tired of saving planes and said if you can't beat em join em.Sporegorger_Dragon wrote: ↑3 years agoUgin, Emrakul Enwrithed

Winner: Cythare. You just beat barely beat Togs. Frogs and Cats are unlikely, but you definitely have the most unlikely pair, in addition to being mechanically and thematically spot on.
HM: Togs. I thought you had this one in the bag, 10/10 on all the criteria, but I had to lean towards Cythare because I have an Acornelia commander deck.
Megiddo you almost had it too. If not for Cythare, it would have been between you and Togs. Although, i do love grixis, Frogs+Cats was just too funny to me.

Don't be sorry, it's hilarious. Btw, are you aware that if it is declared as an attacker or blocker it immediately dies? If that was not your intention, I suggest adding "at end of combat."
