Sir Fitzroy Maplecourt
Legendary Creature - Human Elf Warlock Barbarian
: Goad target creature. It gets +3/+0 and gains haste until your next turn.
Whenever Sir Fitzroy Maplecourt attacks, if he's goaded, choose 1, 2, or 4 at random. Mill that many cards, then exile cards from the top of your library until you exile an instant or sorcery card. You may cast it without paying its mana cost. Put the exiled cards on the bottom of your library in a random order.

So, if this wasn't obvious, this is the counter-challenge to my previous challenge. I'm sitting at my desk staring at a foot and a half of snow that we got yesterday, so I'm not as excited to do the flavorful judging this time.

Haste is very much not a blue ability. This needs to be multicolor (or green, as void_nothing noted), especially at common. Bonded Fetch does not count as precedent. I also liked the flavor text as an orcish librarian and was disappointed the creature was neither an orc nor a librarian.Mergatroid_Jones wrote: ↑3 years agoBook Jockey

This is fine, although I'm not sure how good it is. I have no idea what rarity this is supposed to be, and that's important to properly gauge its abilities. Three foretold cards also feels like a lot to have at once.OneAndOnly wrote: ↑3 years agoScribner, Sage of Secrets --

This seems hilarious and honestly I'm most excited about using this with counterspells so that your opponent's card is really, really being Negated. I'm not sure how balanced it is with prowess, but it is otherwise a vanilla 2/2 mythic for , so it at least would show up acceptably infrequently in Limited.avatarz wrote: ↑3 years agoSalfir, the Librarian

Exquisite.
"gains unblockable" isn't current terminology but I am assuming that you are trying to re-keyword it here. I am a fan of the new wave of "thing gains hexproof/indestructible, you have to tap it", which also feels distinctly appropriate for a troll given how regeneration shields work, but this is still fine on its own. The tension between growing and protecting itself is cool.NinjaCaterpie wrote: ↑3 years agoBrasal, Knowledge Hoarder

Goading your own creatures is kind of a weird default use case. I like that it's a thing you can technically do, but this makes it sort of run on rails. I also have absolutely no idea what rarity you are envisioning this at (although I'd put it at mythic).Sporegorger_Dragon wrote: ↑3 years agoSir Fitzroy Maplecourt

Put three +1/+1 counters on target creature. Then, adjust the number of +1/+1 counters on each creature you control with a counter on it so they all have the greatest number of +1/+1 counters.

A little wordy! You'd use this to put three +1/+1 counters on a creature, and then your Spike Feeder and Simic Initiate would bump up to three counters each, too. Or drop it on your Cytospawn Shambler for bomby fun times!

I get the sentiment, but when trying to compare designs from multiple people to choose a winner, having a sense of the intended rarity helps figure out if the design as a whole is reasonable (even though in theory it might change during development). If there's a card that I like that has a rarity displayed and another that I like that doesn't, I'll always give the nod to the more complete picture.OneAndOnly wrote: ↑3 years agoI don't generally put rarities on cards on the boards, since they're not found in boosters or packs.

Fair point about the hexproof/indestructability, however since it was an on/off threshold mechanic dependent on the players handsize, I thought I could bend the unwritten rules a little.

Based on how MODO and Arena render it, I'm going to say the silver-border answer is probably yes. Also, thank you for helping me realize that this will just keep creating tokens and draw the game based on the original wording.OneAndOnly wrote: ↑3 years agoDoes creating a token copy of a card copy its art? It would appear in a dedicated DFC slot, but the rarity of the front half and the back half are independent of each other. So sometimes you'd get this combo, but other times you might get Milliner's Revenge with another uncommon back face, or possibly luck into a DFC that is mythic on both sides!
