Welcome to the DCC!
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post in the DCC Discussion Thread.

How To Play

How does this card-making game work? It's simple! Whenever your card receives a vote, you receive [1] point for the month. If your card ends up with the most votes for that day, you will receive [2] additional points for the month. In the event of a tie, each person who tied receives [1] additional point. At the end of each month, the person with the most points on the scoreboard wins that month, then the scoreboard is cleared for the next month. You can participate in as many or as few days as you want in any month.

Rules

  • Each day you may post any card you want. On the next day all of the posted cards will be put into the thread as long as your card didn't get disqualified - see the next point for more details. If you post more than one card in a DCC thread, only the first card you post will be taken.
  • When you vote, you need to make exactly two votes for two different people. Vote for the cards that are listed in the first post, not other cards being posted in the thread. If you notice that you've only voted for one person, include your second vote in a post, even if you're not submitting a card.
  • If you want to change your vote for any reason, post that change in the day's thread (you can include it with your card if you want). Changed votes in the discussion thread will be ignored.
  • Voting for only one person, for three or more people, or for yourself will earn you an asterisk by your name in the monthly leaderboard. So will failing to vote if you've posted a card. (We're not going to do anything about people who don't vote or post cards; that would be kind of silly.) This indicates that you're on probation for the next 21 days. If you're on probation and you make another improper vote, your card will be disqualified. Repeated disqualification is grounds for warnings and/or infractions for not following the game rules, so please don't do it.
  • Voting for everything in the poll will be grounds for a lifetime ban from the DCC. Don't do it. It just wastes the thread creators' time.
  • If you wish to post a render, please use the hyperlink option when posting your card and make the card name the image link. Renders are usually large enough to clog up the list, so submit a text-formed card and (optionally) a link in the name to the render.
  • This thread is just for your card submission. Take your questions/comments to our discussion thread. If it's a question, comment, or complaint about probation, PM void_nothing and/or the month's DCC organizer.
  • When posting make sure that:
    • You have included all of the previous day's entries.
    • You update the leaderboard with the previous day's scores.
(An easy way to post the new thread is to hit the multiquote button on every post in the previous day's thread, then click Post Reply. Select everything in this post, copy it, and then paste it into the first post for a new thread. You'll have to clean up a few small things, like quote tags around the opening post and the previous day's cards.)

Notes of the Day

Congratulations to Flatline - but no November scores yet as I am sadly mobileposting this.

netn10 - I was so close to voting for this card, I love it, but the tiebreaker were the details, as usual. In this case, a typo ("Aure" instead of "Aura") and a name that reminds me more of the Eternals from Amonkhet invading Ravnica than anything else, and in fact this was the inspiration for my card for today. If this card were called "Inner Struggle" I would have probably voted for this, despite the typo.

I don't drink anything but water, and I specifically don't like anything with alcohol. I've tasted some alcoholic beverages of various kinds a few times in my adult life, and I've liked none of them, not because I couldn't stand them (I've never got drunk, not even once in 36 years of life. Instead, I've had to help a few past friends who got drunk in more than one occasion), but just because I really don't like the taste of it, and I immediately feel its taste even in small doses. So I just don't drink alcohol: I don't have to taste something I don't like, and I only gain in health.

Now, board games are a whole other matter... I'm a big fan of most of them, even though I only watch videos and streaming, like LoadingReadyRun's AFKs and Long Games, because I don't have a playgroup to play them with.

Anyway, whatever you like, I'm glad to see it worked, as you're back! Also because a whole month of work together awaits us in the MCC...
Eternal Invader XBB
Creature — Zombie Warrior (R)
When Eternal Invader enters the battlefield, amass X. (Put X +1/+1 counters on an Army you control. If you don't control one, create a 0/0 black Zombie Army creature token first.)
Eternalize XXBB (XXBB, Exile this card from your graveyard: Create a token that's a copy of it, except it's a 4/4 black Zombie Warrior with no mana cost. Eternalize only as a sorcery.)

Important rules update (relevant in general, and also in particular for this card)

Yes, it works, and here's the reason why.
Very relevant news for everybody, as it was a point I often used to bring up as an MCC judge and now, thanks to Gadwick, the Wizened forcing a CR update, it has changed:
Now if there is an X in a mana cost, the value of X DOES get passed to a triggered ability or replacement effect of the permanent. While many might think that this has always been the case, it has actually always been the contrary until ELD (in fact I've penalized so many cards as an MCC judge for this through the years, now I won't anymore), with Polukranos, World Eater being a specific exception only working because of how the CR entry for monstrosity has been written. Now it's no longer an exception, but it's true in general.

ELD CR update (I've added card tags) wrote: https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/a ... 2019-09-27

107.3K
Chamber Sentry got 107.3j to clarify an object with X in its cost and in an unrelated activated ability. Now Gadwick, the Wizened gets a new 107.3k rule to clarify that its triggered ability looks at the value X that comes from the spell it was, not the permanent it is.
CR ELD Edition (emphasis mine) wrote: 107.3k If an object's enters-the-battlefield triggered ability or replacement effect refers to X, and the spell that became that object as it resolved had a value of X chosen for any of its costs, the value of X for that ability is the same as the value of X for that spell, although the value of X for that permanent is 0. This is an exception to rule 107.3h.

107.3h Normally, all instances of X on an object have the same value at any given time.

Honorable mentions (and a letter to my superior in the Legion)

Dear Captain Henlock,
rest assured that I'm not betraying or abandoning the Legion in any way. You know my passion and my loyalty, I'd never do that. But part of passion is sincerity, and I have to say that this new recruit doesn't really strike me as fit for the Legion. I honestly might see them better in the Izzet League... Their first ability is really something we just don't do. Their other ability might maybe make sense on another world, and I'm specifically thinking of Theros, but not here on Ravnica. What? What's Theros? One of those other worlds. Remember Gideon, the man that led our war against those bluish zombies invading our city, and that some time ago was an ally of the Legion speaking directly with Guildmaster Aurelia? Well, now he's dead, unfortunately, but before that I've had the chance to talk to him and he told me that other worlds exist and that the one he was born on is called Theros. He told me a lot about that place. And that's where I think this recruit would belong. But for now, I think I'll give them an honorable mention. After all, they're not that bad at what they do. I just wish that "what they do" was more in line with our own ideals as the Boros Legion.
Kind regards,
—Soldier Leo

void_nothing - Mostly, I like how elegant the sequence 1/1 2/3 4/4 is.
Kolaghan's Scout 1R
Creature — Goblin Scout (U)
Dash 1R (You may cast this spell for its dash cost. If you do, it gains haste, and it's returned from the battlefield to its owner's hand at the beginning of the next end step.)
Cycling 1R (1R, Discard this card: Draw a card.)
Kolaghan runs freely in the sky. Those that are fast enough to follow her live. Those that aren't become Atarka's next dinner.
