A pretty good haul this round, so let's get going.
My metric will be mostly how unorthodox the usage of cleave is, based on my own highly subjective opinion.
Although this works as written, I would've also put the ETB trigger between brackets as well.
Oh dear.
So tallying up the score and awarding bonus points, it's very close between Juancu wiping the slate clean with nuclear fire and Mergatroid_Jones' planeswalker part-timer. So, just based on a whim, I award the win to:
Mergatoid_Jones!
2nd place: Juancu
3rd place: NinjaCaterpie

I was expecting some sort of cleave card that cleaved separate subsets of brackets, but I didn't expect it to be the very first submission. This is a good and playable card, a delightful card for Mels and color philosophers.NinjaCaterpie wrote: ↑2 years agoRend Matter

Interesting! Instead of inventing a new grouping, you made it so that the card labelled additional/alternative costs as kicked, then gave them all the bonus.Juancu wrote: ↑2 years agoKekora, Mechanic of Unification

Hah! These are certainly unusual uses of cleave. The green counterspell is great, but I have to admit the no-name blue planeswalker is my favorite of the the bonus cards. Remade by the Moon seems a bit too strong, and I think modern design philosophy is moving from allowing blue to "transform" things like that. Orim's Genius also seems powerful with the options provided, the land denial seems too strong.Mergatroid_Jones wrote: ↑2 years agoSwapped my first submission for the more fun one.

Same as above, but at least this time we got a unique set of brackets.

cleave is really confusing to read because we always expect that the additional cost ADDS the fun additional text.
it's interesting to see several of these designs also fell into that trap.

I'm a bit embarrassed that I missed the bracket at the end of the word "creatures" there, but the part that I thought would be seen as "nontraditional" was the non-mana cost, since that hadn't been done yet, but it isn't exactly innovative.Sporegorger_Dragon wrote: ↑2 years agoCythare screeching in at the very last minute possible!
