Neither of these really feel like Kaladesh to me. That being said, I really want Read a Short Story to be an instant-speed spell with "You may put a Saga enchantment card from your hand onto the battlefield. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step." so that it feels like you're just getting part of a story.
I like the idea of this using flavor wording like AFR. I'm not sure if you intended that with the parentheticals or just wanted to make sure I understood the chapters, but either way, I enjoyed it on top of this just being a home run entry.chetoos wrote: ↑2 years agoThat's what the parens were for, trying to separate the two clauses.spacemonaut wrote: ↑2 years agooops i misread that as "interesting things to do with enchantment — class"

1: Put a deathtouch counter on target creature you control. (Willingness to kill)
2: Until end of turn, creature spells you cast cost less. (Cars are loaded)
3: Until your next turn, players can't cast creature spells (Room is locked)
4: Each creature you control deals damage equal to its power to target creature you don't control. (Spoilers for a 80+ year old book, I guess)

I'm concerned that you consider derailing a train a "thing to do on a train". Ideally if you're derailing it, you're off the train? This is probably fine on-rate since both players are down a land, even if you're definitely caching your worst land in for their best.NinjaCaterpie wrote: ↑2 years agoDerail

As an additional cost to cast Derail, sacrifice a land.
Destroy up to one target creature, up to one target artifact, and up to one target land.

I get that this is a 5-color enchantment, but being able to just jam planeswalkers from your graveyard is very strong, and you've definitely already won if you control 5 planeswalkers.vishamon wrote: ↑2 years agoYahenni's Party

When Yahenni's Party enters the battlefield, search your library for a planeswalker card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle.
: You may play target Planeswalker card from your graveyard without paying its mana cost.
At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control a Chandra, Nissa, Liliana, Jace, and Gideon planeswalker, you win the game.

This would probably be two separate abilities fully written out as opposed to a modal cost structure like this, but otherwise this is fine.Phyrexian Editor wrote: ↑2 years agoAetherborn Barista

I'm generally not a fan of shroud or hexproof on noncreature permanents. I'm also not a fan of them on creatures, but at least they can usually be interacted with in combat. The complete lack of counterplay just isn't compelling to me. From a cost perspective, this is probably fine without shroud, though.Pygyzy wrote: ↑2 years agoPortrait in Motion

This is pretty neat! The food to card draw ratio feels a bit steep, since you have to either triple-spell or double-spell three turns in a row to draw a card, but I get that you don't want to just be constantly churning out Food tokens.spacemonaut wrote: ↑2 years agoTenth Bridge Market

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Odd that sacrificing the last construct makes you draw cards here, but I guess Decker did get a reward at the end of the book.
I like the flavor words to help understand the story, but again, these aren't rewritten to be mtg related. Still, I can't fault you for adapting two majorly influential detective books as sagas. I really like the design and flavor in everything.Sporegorger_Dragon wrote: ↑2 years agoThe Hound of the Baskervilles

That's a pretty brutal crit fail. I'm not sure if I like the experience counter shenanigans on a card that can't consistently give you experience counters (what are you experiencing? casting the guy?). Using highly swingy randomness as a balancing factor is also... a bit too Hearthstone for me.Phyrexian Editor wrote: ↑2 years agoObould XIX

As worded, this lets you pick a different target for each damage amount. If that's intended, I kind of like it (though it's very unintuitive, and still bolts 13-15.5 in a lot of decks). If not, uh, let's not.

smh shoulda been warlocks get to do extra damage. I like it, though it doesn't seem like it needs to be black (especially since Warlock Class already pushes the deck to be black)
lol. this is a bit silly, but so is a vorpal blade. At 6+3 mana, it's probably fair, but I would've liked it if it just gave the creature a Phage trigger rather than instantly winning.stille_nacht wrote: ↑2 years agoVorpal Blade
