Vigorous Shessra

Plague Bunny:

Stuff to remove next: (2)

Approximate Total Cost:

now assembled, I've goldfished it a bunch and it's REALLY shaky. some of the less powerful toys need to go, we need a few more cantrips, fetches and card selection spells (thinking Insist, Once Upon a Time, Caravan Vigil...) plus obviously the tap-duals are weak. The biggest two lands this calls for are Forbidden Orchard and Nurturing Peatland. The Loxodon hammer wants to be Eternal Thirst - way lower mana cost and cooler synergy with killing little guys, which we wanna do already. Sengir, the Dark Baron wants to be Slaughter Specialist for identical reasons, something needs to go for an actual Pestilence Demon, we probably want Grismold, the Dreadsower, Seed the Land, Hungry Lynx and Dowsing Dagger // Lost Vale... I really want Mask of Griselbrand too, more pointedly synergistic with what I wanna do than Greater Good would be. Something could be kicked out for Kamber, the Plunderer, which provides dig AND a buffer. in the realms of the imagination, Trespasser's Curse wants to be The Meathook Massacre. good luck with that, me! Spoils of Evil and Carnival of Souls are hard to use but I want to use my weird old expensive cards x3 more refining needed before I even try to face an opponent or three

looking through card lists, a lot of the cards which supply the opponent with creatures are optional or harder on me than them. Witch Engine is really silly, Dark Salvation is incredibly hard on your own mana for its effect, Hunted Horror's tokens have protection from black which is the last thing we want to happen, Parallel Evolution goes overboard, Rampage of the Clans destroys a huge amount of my own stuff... it's all very awkward. but better this than being an aristocrats deck =P~

Approximate Total Cost:

I'm just assembling cards into piles of cards here, don't currently have a playgroup, so this is just an untested archetypical idea: massive anti-creature action, getting action out of the "creature dies" cards by killing their stuff rather than mine. greedy, I know.

cutest combo is the classic Odyssey block Last Laugh + Druid's Call. you can make sure target creature dies or you can play it on Pharika to (attempt to) win immediately when you have the highest life total. if you get a chance to tutor or draw big you are looking for Kogla who pairs perfectly with the general.

this is of course very rough; has anyone got any ideas how to focus it? budget within reason, no vamps or verdant catacombs

overnight I realised I'd want Forbidden Orchard, Dowsing Dagger // Lost Vale and Rite of Passage to make this more powerful. I don't actually have those cards, hee, but it'd feel so much better that way

but what I can add right now is an Oath of Druids! several cards in this deck give the opponents creatures and most pulls on the Oath would give me something big.

(worried that this kind of direction calls into question exactly why this is Shessra rather than Pharika or Grismold? but I like Shessra!)

Have you considered Greater Good? Many of your creatures are quite large.
There's no biscuits and gravy in New Zealand.
(Except when DirkGently makes them!)

Tombstone Stairwell could be fun with Last Laugh…

Now I want to test Last Laugh in Grismold

Greater Good's sexy... I was overlooking cards like that being fairly adamant that I wanted to be killing my opponent's creatures, not my own, to contrast with a Colfenor list I'm always working on. but yes, it might need to be slotted in. Tombstone Stairwell is hilarious and it looks like I have a few copies of it already <3 thanks for the suggestions

things I noticed from my collection that'd want to be in this:
Vigor - Rite of Passage in big boy form, natural Pestilence protection
Snake Umbra and Keen Sense - just breaks Thrashing Wumpus absurdly, to the point where I'd want to add Pestilence Demon to have that happen more often
Netherborn Phalanx - punish the opponent for keeping the extra tokens around or search up Kogla or Vigor
Bloodchief Ascension - hahahahahahahahahhhijfd
Revival Experiment - this seems super-powerful with my suite of big creatures and enchantment-based control cards, right? almost could be impetus to add Pernicious Deed too?

(Cabal Coffers - probably not? I don't have an Urborg)

god, my collection of b/g land is terrible \o/ updated now I have this sleeved. it's embarassing so far. that tainted pact is misplaced too, snow-covered swamps will choke it. logically you'd just make it demonic tutor but i don't have one. might stubbornly put a Provoke in its place =P

edit: what if after a little more goldfishing I replaced the weakest cantrip/fetch spell with Chevill, Bane of Monsters? at the risk of making the deck even more legend-y? Time of Need starts to feel interesting, too

sub-idea I've been thinking about: Ratchet Bomb, Powder Keg, Engineered Explosives and Culling Ritual are all great token killers which aren't *just* token killers... Pernicious Deed and Gaze of Granite are two other neutron bombs which somewhat equalize early progress (and push us towards running Into the North, Farseek rather than Signets etc) and leave our big creatures standing later on. kinda necessitates taking out the least effective low-cost permanents ie. Warlock Class, which is a shame, but helps me shape the deck more. I would still put in Chevill, Bane of Monsters if I had one and, now that we can Bomb the protection-from-black creatures, Hunted Horror but, besides that, I don't want to run so many permanents that cost less than three unless they're there to be sacrificed, or to ritual out something cool and then be blown up, eg, Mana Vault. will rejig this when I have access to all my cards again! the land is still hideous!

edit: and I think having a lot of tiny card boardwipes makes us better against aristocrat strategies with all their altars n artists and loopy enchantments n trinkets. my big point with the deck was to play black green that didn't want to sacrifice its own stuff anyway =P

Take a look at my Grismold list, I think we're running most of the same sweepers, but there may be some token generators that might be useful to you.

Massacre Wurm and The Meathook Massacre could do serious work in your list, I think.
