Re: Is Mass Artifact/Enchantment Destruction BM?

BM BM? Bloodmoon? ...is the existence of mass artifact removal such as Vandalblast... I think modal versions are better than something like Shatterstorm - if used responsibly. I think it may be a Rule 0 discussion in some situations. Sure Alibou, Ancient Witness and Sydri, Galvanic Genius type deck...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Imperial Recruiter

Saturday, June 24th, 2023; Imperial Recruiter and pretty close functional twin, Recruiter of the Guard Ironically, it seems to be that each is the other color's best choice. Red wants aggression and would happily trade fragility for a higher power (e. g. Ball Lightning - which can be found by Recru...

Think of it like an air defense system. Could they fly over? Yes. Can they fly through it to attack? Nope.

Re: Goad: how annoying is it?

I like goad, and have built several decks devoted to it, but I've never had success with it. It seems like a mechanic released ten years too late. I would gladly trade Goad for a return of Provoke. . . (Which wasn't a bad mechanic - it had potential to be a great mechanic, but only apeared on bad c...

Re: JUNE 2023 QUARTERLY UPDATE

I'm so glad the RC is happy with the pervasive "If it is not cEDH then it is casual by definition" mindset in the wild. Why don't the CAG content creators actually start discussing how far the Commander environment has strayed from, even the first paragraph, of the Philosophy document. Las...

Re: How much tutoring is too much?

A good way to reduce the number of tutors and/or staples... is to reduce the # of colors in your deck. One reason I'm more fond of 2-c decks these days is because that I have less staples to worry about. Another way to reduce staples is to lean hard on theme. For example, 90% of my decks are Tribal...

Concur. It also needs a Mistborn - mistwraith alter (not too much to change really - blue glow and some random bones in the slime).

Cannibalize has oddball applications in decks where counters matter.
I used to use it with Kulrath Knight in 60 card tribal legacy.

Re: The top three worst strategies to play against

Thank you for your time and consideration. Final thoughts: Even if you're playing at a public LGS <snip> An LGS with a lower power level than my meta would be unusual but I'm sure there are some out there. I never said LGS, just MTGO as previously discussed. I agree with @pokken's earlier statement ...

Re: The top three worst strategies to play against

The Glissa machine Gun is specifically with Thornbite Staff - often recurring a sac-for-mana artifact or with either Ashnod's Altar or Krark-Clan Ironworks to sac the recurred artifact to make it "kill everything." I mean, at that point we're talking about a ~4 card combo with pretty spec...

You've never run into a Glissa, the Traitor deck? Weird! Lol I used to run Glissa the Traitor but I'm not sure what you're referring to. pinger equipment only lets you kill one creature per turn cycle generally Not just the capsule but glissa also works with Triangle of War if you want to go deep. ...

BLUF*: I feel like MtG has passed me by, and there is now no more formats for players like me (tons of theoretical formats, but none you can actually get a game playing). I've been playing since The Dark (Jun 94) and I hate to give the hobby up, but I have had 1 game that I felt good about afterwar...

Re: Tempo: The hidden cost of spells that don't do anything

Thanks all, I was just trying to answer Avacyn Believer 's question. I think you can accomplish a jank-ish meta by having the right limitations - play PDH, play set commander, play pre-modern only, etc. Otherwise power creep is probably inevitable. And that right there sums up the problem. When you ...

I won't say any of your analysis is wrong; but I do feel that that it is indicative of what is wrong with Commander (as opposed to what EDH was). I really miss EDH. . . Especially since Commander Killed Casual By that, I mean that on MTGO I have not seen a non-Commander Multiplayer "casual"...

I average about 15 basics per deck (regardless of CI) and refuse to go below 10. But then, I'm not playing cEDH (and have no desire to do so) so I prefer an affordable balanced manabase aver "max efficiency."

For the nostalgia factor, IMO, every "human" deck needs to include Márton Stromgald and Homura . I can't help much with the OP premise since my Human deck is mono-R and uses those two as swap-able Generals (where Marton is frowned upon, I put him in the 99 and put Homura in the big chair i...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Xanthic Statue

I use this in my mono-Brown Karn's Golems deck - because Karn's ability means I can activate for 1 with no loss of P/T. . . That makes a significant increase in it's efficacy (instead of 8 to cast and 5 to activate it is usually 10 to cast and copy ( Mirrorworks ) and 2 to have 16/16 available on at...

I've had an Enduring Ideal deck on MODO for a long time, but it's been years since I've played it.
