Re: Non-Basic Land Soft Hosers
In general I find that just catching up to ramp players is the most fun option, vs. trying to prevent them from playing. Making %$#% enter the battlefield tapped is a nightmare for everyone to keep track of and people really suck at it. I dunno, I think Root Maze effects for nonbasics are great too...

Re: Slogurk, the Overslime: It Came from the Mists
would Oversimplify be a good board wipe? the tokens it leaves behind might be unfortunate, but it's the cheapest "real" board wipe in these colors I had completely forgotten about this card. Definitely worth testing. Exile is great, and while the token is problematic and doesn't at all sa...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Cliffside Rescuer
Highly efficient fetching did kind of jack up the dynamics of playing 3+ colors, I can't really argue against that. I guess that's cool if you're only concerned about efficiency but not great if you care about there being some kind of incentive for limiting yourself to fewer colors. There should be...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
To expand on, what is simics space for removal? counters stappled into creatures? I like the idea of more mass polymorphs or mass fights. For Slogurk specifically I want something like this: Spill Over [sym=1][sym=g][sym=g] Sorcery Target creature with Trample you control deals damage equal to its ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Lol, I feel like we are kind of already out of "Simic Winter" or whatever you want to call it. Idk, green has gotten some cool new toys, but I feel wizards must of finally fired the guy that kept designing busted Simic cards /hj Cyber Conversion and Eaten by Piranhas are very new cards, a...

Re: Simic Kellan Thought Expirement
See, this looks much more interesting, you've got removal, wipes, protection and I expect you to have to make some hard decisions while piloting this deck. (I will say the draw section looks suspiciously heavy when you have draw in the CZ, obviously it's good to have some if Thalia kicks the bucket...

Re: Simic Kellan Thought Expirement
Well, I got 3 games in and lost all three. lol I took his advice to heart with a second Thalia and The Gitrog Monster deck. That card is such a ridiculous four drop that you don't have to build around them at all. Only instead of parlaying that into constantly dropping game ending bombs, we're goin...

Re: Need Help with Monoblack Control
I'm testing Braids, Arisen Nightmare and I'll +1, Cabal Stronghold is a wastes. wish I heard @TheGildedGoose I'm tinkering with a Korlash, Heir to Blackblade list for %$#% and giggles. I grew weary of Torment of Hailfire . I can post it later, as I'm actually kind of proud of it. I don't know if is...

Re: STATE OF THE FORMAT 2024
What argument is there for unbanning Gifts Ungiven ? A 4 mana instant to find you A+B combo and 2 ways to recur whatever went to the yard, or 4 pieces of interaction to protect the combo you're already holding, just screams oppressive, repetitive gameplay to me. How is it any different than any num...

There isn't one.
I started using some aristocrat drains to close games. It fits the attrition-style nature of the deck.

The only Naya commander besides Hazezon, Shaper of Sand I've considered if only for being able to call the deck Rocco's Modern Life.

Re: STATE OF THE FORMAT 2024
Seems more aware of the state of the game and/or more candid than I would have expected. My expectations have raised somewhat. Gifts unban when? Jim is great. I'm glad it appears as though he's stepping into the leadership role because I have a lot of respect for him not just as a player but also a...

I respect their freedom to argue about anything under the sun but please respect our desire to not have pages-long arguments about tangentially related topics crowding up threads. There's a containment thread and it should be used by all parties after like tw...

Louder, for the folks in the back: I don't know why you all spend so much time and effort arguing with Dirk over something as subjective as his personal rankings of cards, especially when it's obvious that you're evaluating them from significantly differing viewpoints. I generally wouldn't care, as...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Triskaidekaphile
I wonder if @DirkGently could win with this in his group  Honestly at this point I'm more interested in hearing about Dirk giving himself a disadvantage in ways beyond deck building. You know, playing with your dominant arm behind your back on a time limit on your own turn, that kind of thing.

Re: Phelddagrif: Show Weakness to Hide Your Strength
We haven't really covered it before, but how do we feel about Pit of Offerings ? *Slogurk has entered the chat* This is actually pretty good there because I'm also pretty graveyard-centric so Scavenger Grounds can be awkward. I can also easily sacrifice it to recur it as needed which is another hug...
