Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Glen Elendra Archmage

I've talked to plenty of people who will outright say "I don't do politics", and have targeted me explicitly because I'm "pulling that political crap". If there's a fault in this, it's only that they have the wrong words to describe it. Everyone does politics, it's inherent in m...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Glen Elendra Archmage

I'm sorry, but I can't take seriously the idea that being disparaging of some people I vaguely gestured at, who aren't here and whom I didn't name, is "contentious". Do you know those players? You know that they were actually skilled players? I suppose you must know that, otherwise how wo...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Glen Elendra Archmage

"I DON'T THINK THIS IS ACCURATE. I would do the same thing for other reasons" ← unnecessarily contentious You think "I do not think this is accurate" is unnecessarily contentious, responding to a post describing people as "scrubs". You're noticing a pattern in my behav...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Glen Elendra Archmage

Building off our previous conversation, do you see why I might feel that you invent reasons to disagree with me? You could have said the same stuff by appending it to what I said - yes-and-ing it - rather than misleadingly cropping my statement so you could find something to disagree with. You anal...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Glen Elendra Archmage

@Dunadain There is a sort of logic to it - the sort of player who is likely to think about maneuvers like "I should reveal a card (normally a bad thing) because it will be more powerful as a known deterrent than as an immediate answer" is likely to be a skilled player. I don't think this ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Glen Elendra Archmage

I will say though, what sort of player gets pissed off at you revealing a counter more than an active GEA? It's not being "pissed off" to respond in kind to a threat, it's reasonable strategy. You are extending your threat profile beyond what you are playing to the board, and shifting foc...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

But I do find it kinda weird in instances like this, where you came into the conversation I was having with another party, and (I would argue) reinterpret what the other party said. Maybe you actually do/did feel that their POV was that they "liked" alternative frames as an option for oth...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

If you don't feel the same way about all alternate frames it sounds like you're just a boomer hater. From my perspective, most of Goose's comments, but most notably this one, were almost certainly meant to be light-hearted. I don't think you were actually being called a "boomer hater" for...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

That still doesn't solve the mystery of why multiple people have been jumping down my throat over this when I've made great pains to use neutral language but whatever. I don't believe anyone has jumped down your throat. You repeatedly expressed or displayed a lack of understanding of a concept, and...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I don't think it's useful to speak in absolutes like that. I wouldn't expect every card that I don't like to be banned/cease to exist, but are you honestly telling me I'm wrong for wishing the worst offenders, like legacy Dreadhorde Arcanist was never a thing? You can think it's useful or not, that...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

You could say "well, I'm glad those borders exist even if I don't personally want to use them" but I wouldn't describe that as "liking" them. You're presumably going to avoid using them if you'd rather have the default modern frame. That really doesn't sound like "liking&qu...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Other cards I don't play could be neutral or positive though. Like I don't hardly ever play tribal decks but most tribal cards don't bother me. I think this is effectively parallel to the situation others are attempting to communicate. You can prefer other cards and other strategies and have no int...

Do you believe that the existence of cards you don't want to play with makes your experience of the game worse?

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time

With all the Heliod, the Radiant Dawn // Heliod, the Warped Eclipse talk, I realized that he could flip Azor's Gateway // Sanctum of the Sun with Agatha's Soul Cauldron + Rise and Shine instead of having to use Saheeli, Sublime Artificer , I know you brought it up with agatha + golden guardian, but...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time

I was going to apologize for being so behind here cause I've been busy, then I saw it's only been three days. Time is weird. Starke of Rath is a very promising card for Agatha's Soul Cauldron . This guy can act as removal and give your opponents permanents. [condensed for space, but plenty of good s...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time

I think Agatha's Soul Cauldron could be awesome. I initially didn't think too highly of it because my build has so few creatures with activated abilities, but I think a couple card swaps could make using the activated ability copying much more effective. Morphling or Torchling could be pretty fun w...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time

The thing I have been pondering most lately is Agatha's Soul Cauldron . I'm not typically attracted to cards that are known to combo, especially expensive ones played in in competitive formats, but just the minor upsides before sending abilities across the board are so dense: 1) It's graveyard hate....

Hey tstorm, do you have any of these lists online? I would really like to see Yurlok especially but I always enjoy seeing your deckbuilding style so i'm interested in the others as well. Cheers! Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time

Do spells coming out of eye of the storm work in a different way? I always assumed it was handled the same way as simultaneous triggers where you can order it as you like, and any spells cast first are legal targets for other spells that have yet to be cast (think Epic Experiment ). Example: Castin...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time

I asked 2 different judges and both of them told me that it works. "You control both triggers, and since they're both waiting to go on the stack, you choose the order they're put on the stack" was the final answer. And they seemed to be pretty annoyed that I asked them more than once........

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time

Heliod can also have its own combo along with Wormfang Manta , Tishana's Tidebinder and one of my favorite cards ever that I always wanted to put in the deck but could not find a suitable combo for it, Parallax Wave . I'm not 100% confident there's a combo here. If Wormfang Manta and Tishana's Tide...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time

I don't like these options either, but I was mostly considering it as a manalith that can turbocharge the deck alongside Saheeli, Sublime Artificier + Pentad Prism / Astral Cornucopia / Everflowing Chalice , but I realized it is a very specific situation that is simply not worth it (mostly for the ...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time

@tstorm823 i know you like your removal spells that are combo pieces. here you go. I also know you don't care for nine lives much but maybe this might convince you? I think Fractured identity is a very powerful card in this deck. Its removal, its sort of group hug, it can cause a lot of chaos, and ...

The more I think about it, the more I can see myself trying out some of this, but probably just without Vexing Puzzlebox.
