as the title says, was surprised to see that there are actually Street Fighter characters in mtg.

did these got added recently, and are they legal to use in Pioneer format?

So, some Secret Lairs now introduce new cards based on an outside (Universes Beyond) IP. Whenever this is done with a non-mass-release product, though, the cards will later be put into The List as retroactive reskins similar to the Godzilla cards from Ikoria. For example, Baldin, Century Herdmaster is the upcoming equivalent card to E. Honda, Sumo Champion. Since they're only printed in Secret Lair and The List, these particular cards are legal only in Legacy, Vintage, and Commander.

This release is from this past February. An earlier example that already went through the whole process is October 2021's Stranger Things Secret Lair. This is the one that had the likes of Mind Flayer, the Shadow, which got reverse-reskinned as Arvinox, the Mind Flail.

All of these cards, for The List purposes, are going in the Universes Within "set".
