Can modal, dual-face cards be cast or put into play with their flip side by any means other than casting from hand? For instance, by Reanimate? Aether Vial?

As long as you are casting/playing them, it doesn't really matter the zone you are casting/playing them from. However, that does mean you need to cast/play them. Reanimate doesn't work. Vial doesn't work. Crucible of Worlds *does* work since you are playing it. Kess, Dissident Mage also works since you are playing it (though Snapcaster Mage and Past in Flames don't work). Melek, Izzet Paragon and Oracle of Mul Daya are also cards that work
