Welcome to the DCC!
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post in the DCC Discussion Thread.

How To Play

How does this card-making game work? It's simple! Whenever your card receives a vote, you receive [1] point for the month. If your card ends up with the most votes for that day, you will receive [2] additional points for the month. In the event of a tie, each person who tied receives [1] additional point. At the end of each month, the person with the most points on the scoreboard wins that month, then the scoreboard is cleared for the next month. You can participate in as many or as few days as you want in any month.

Rules

  • Each day you may post any card you want. On the next day all of the posted cards will be put into the thread as long as your card didn't get disqualified - see the next point for more details. If you post more than one card in a DCC thread, only the first card you post will be taken.
  • When you vote, you need to make exactly two votes for two different people. Vote for the cards that are listed in the first post, not other cards being posted in the thread. If you notice that you've only voted for one person, include your second vote in a post, even if you're not submitting a card.
  • If you want to change your vote for any reason, post that change in the day's thread (you can include it with your card if you want). Changed votes in the discussion thread will be ignored.
  • Voting for only one person, for three or more people, or for yourself will earn you an asterisk by your name in the monthly leaderboard. So will failing to vote if you've posted a card. (We're not going to do anything about people who don't vote or post cards; that would be kind of silly.) This indicates that you're on probation for the next 21 days. If you're on probation and you make another improper vote, your card will be disqualified. Repeated disqualification is grounds for warnings and/or infractions for not following the game rules, so please don't do it.
  • Voting for everything in the poll will be grounds for a lifetime ban from the DCC. Don't do it. It just wastes the thread creators' time.
  • If you wish to post a render, please use the hyperlink option when posting your card and make the card name the image link. Renders are usually large enough to clog up the list, so submit a text-formed card and (optionally) a link in the name tothe render.
  • This thread is just for your card submission. Take your questions/comments to our discussion thread. If it's a question, comment, or complaint about probation, PM void_nothing and/or the month's DCC organizer.
  • When posting make sure that:
    • You have included all of the previous day's entries.
    • You update the leaderboard with the previous day's scores.
(An easy way to post the new thread is to hit the multiquote button on every post in the previous day's thread, then click Post Reply. Select everything in this post, copy it, and then paste it into the first post for a new thread. You'll have to clean up a few small things, like quote tags around the opening post and the previous day's cards.)

Notes of the Day

Alright, today is the last day to vote on cards for the month of May. With a 5 point lead over second place, it's going to be difficult to anyone to overtake Sagharri in this last day, but it's ultimately still too close to call. We'll find out who wins in 24 hours.

And then, on the 3rd, it will be my turn. Expect the thread posting time for June to be midnight CET, just like the last time I hosted.

I really like the idea of entourage, but after seeing how companion went, I'm a little hesitant about similar mechanics... I liked having an indipendent entourage cost that's higher than the mana cost as a partial fix for companion, but then you can reduce that cost... I'm tempted by this mechanic but not fully sold yet.
Today I'm presenting you another plane from my big table: Liyapam.
Liyapam
Show
Hide
This card is from the WU Artificer typal faction of Liyapam. Liyapam is another one of my custom planes, one where extreme weather and environmental disasters occur on a daily basis, and their inhabitants have to deal with them and most of all survive them by all means necessary. What those means are changes from one faction to the other. For example, Artificers build devices (mechanically artifacts) designed to resist the hard weather and to protect you from it. Mechanically, it's a full-on typal set, like Lorwyn. There are no changelings on Liyapam, the glue comes from having ally class typal and enemy race typal. I've intentionally tried to make a mix of well-known creature types and ones that have been used maybe once ever for real, both for races and classes. For example, a Liyapam Artificer could be a Viashino (UR), a Turtle (GU), an Aven (WB), or a Dwarf (RW). Only an Elf (BG) couldn't be one, but that Elf could be a Warlock (UB), a Survivor (BR), a Scout (RG), or a Druid (GW). All creatures in the set will have a race from the enemy pairs and a class from the ally ones. Occasionally, at higher rarities, there will be creatures in the set that have more than one race and/or more than one class from among those. Anyway, a member of a specific race can always be one of four different classes, and a member of one class can always be of four different races. In limited, players who are playing race typal will be competing with those playing class typal for the same cards, for example a red Dwarf Survivor will be of interest to a player drafting RW Dwarves and another player drafting BR Survivor at the same time. Combine this with cards that have double typal mechanics (for example an Elf Scout giving a bonus to both Elves and Scouts at the same time), and I think I have enough glue for a full typal set without having to use changelings. I will use kindred as a set mechanic though, as shown here. I have no idea of the other mechanics at this moment.
Artificer's Command 1WU
Kindred Instant — Artificer (R)
Choose two —
• Counter target artifact spell.
• Return target artifact an opponent controls to its owner's hand.
• Return target artifact you control to your hand.
• Return an artifact card with mana value 3 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.

You might remember Jeff Lionheart. In my ongoing story, he's wanted on two planes (Theros and Taqul), and this card represents him looking for a new plane to call home after having to leave Taqul and before deciding to settle on Vukanat, accepting the invite that Kim and Vuk had made to him back when they first met on Taqul. Skipping a bunch of story, he will end up living in the house of Krest's biological family. That house now legally belongs to Krest himself as the only surviving member of his biological family, but he doesn't really care about it. In the meantime, the two leonins, one planeswalker (Jeff) and one planebound (Krest), have become very close friends, and Krest has no intention to go back to live there as he knows it would bring back too many painful memories to him. So Krest decides to rent his childhood house to Jeff for free. He knows that Jeff is the perfect tenant for his childhood house: he might be from another plane, but he's still a member of his same race, that fully understands him on an emotional level, that will treat his childhood house with a lot of tact and respect, that is in need of a house, and most of all, that has become a real friend of his, one that he cares about a lot now. All of this happens way after the end of my first story on Vukanat, the one that I've written back in 2019 and that badly needs a revised second edition now for multiple reasons. I'll do it eventually.
Anyway, this month is dedicated to Jeff. First, I'll reintroduce him to you all.

Jeff, the Fugitive XGW
Legendary Planeswalker — Jeff (M)
X can't be 2 or less. (It must be 3 or greater.)
Hideaway X (When this planeswalker enters the battlefield, look at the top X cards of your library, exile one face down, then put the rest on the bottom in a random order.)
+1: You may put a +1/+1 counter on up to one target creature you control. If you don't, create a 1/1 green and white Cat creature token.
+1: Ferocious — If you control a creature with power 4 or greater, draw a card.
-9: You may cast the exiled card without paying its mana cost. If you do, copy it once for each creature you control. You may choose new targets for the copies.
