"meet the crime familes of capenna battling for supremacy" - ugh lol
some M:TG abilities about peace, preoccupation, compromise and anti-supremacy to get teh taste of New Capenna out of my mouth. phrased in some cases to make two-headed giant or no opponent casual (ie, just sitting together and goldfishing weird decks onto a shared board to see what accidentals arise) work.
Yield -- (After any permanent deals damage to a player, you may put this permanent on the bottom of your library. If you do, the following occurs.)
(avoiding the word "sacrifice" with the tuck cost to reassert that surrender isn't necessarily death!)
examples:
style one (generic)
Dream Fighter '22
Creature - Illusion Soldier (C)
Yield - The owner of target creature which attacked this turn puts it on the bottom of their library. (After any permanent deals damage to a player, you may put Dream Fighter '22 on the bottom of your library. If you do, the owner of target creature which attacked this turn puts it on the bottom of their library.)
2/1
Precipice of Atlamillia
Land (U)
Yield - Any number of target players may search their library for a land card with a basic land type and put it onto the battlefield under their control. Then each player who searched this way shuffles their library.
style two (very pseudo - bonds made through argument/clashing followed by reasserting friendship)
Inoculum Engine
Artifact (M)
Infect
At the end of your turn, Inoculum Engine deals 2 damage to any target and 2 damage to you.
Yield - Each player who lost life this turn gains an emblem with "You can't gain poison counters." Then you gain life equal to the number of poison counters you have.
Vandergriff
Creature - Elemental Hippogriff (R)
Flying
Yield - You and each other player who lost life this turn get . (Four energy counters.) Then you may pay . If you do, distribute two +1/+1 counters or charge counters among permanents you and/or those other players control.
2/2
M:TG features four cards with "Yield" in their name. Three of them are part of the word "Unyielding" and the other is called "Refuse to Yield"! there's so much gamespace within M:TG's rules labyrinth to make co-operative or more talkative stuff happen in custom environments. (Not a criticism - it's unavoidable but the thematic monotony gets me down!)
Reverie X -- (Permanents with reverie abilities can't attack or block if they're creatures and their non-Reverie abilities can't be activated so long as their reverie has not been satisfied, ie, activated or triggered X times.)
examples:
style one (generic)
Perfectionist Glider
Creature - Dwarf Pilot (C)
Flying
Reverie 2 - At the beginning of your first combat phase, each player may scry 1. (Until this ability has triggered twice, Perfectionist Glider can't attack or block and any non-Reverie abilities it may gain can't be activated.)
"I'm not launching until the wind is *absolutely* right!"
2/1
Occult Botanic Calling
Enchantment - Aura (U)
Enchant creature or land
Enchanted permanent has "Reverie 3 - : Add ."
Beach of Contrition
Enchantment (R)
When Beach of Contrition enters the battlefield, put three pebble counters on target creature.
Whenever a creature deals combat damage to you, put a pebble counter on it.
Creatures with pebble counters on them have "Reverie X -- At the end of your turn, mill X cards. X is the number of pebble counters on this permanent."
style two (co-op)
Raving Terpsichorean
Creature - Minotaur Bard (M)
Haste
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, untap Raving Terpsichorean.
Reverie 7 - : Discard a card, then draw a card. Any player may activate this ability if it is their turn.
When Raving Terpsichorean's reverie becomes satisfied, each player who has less than seven cards in hand may draw cards equal to the difference.
7/7
Festival '22
Instant (R)
Taking turns around the table, each player may put a mirth counter on target creature without a mirth counter on it. Keep doing this until no-one wants to add another mirth counter.
Creatures with mirth counters on them have "Reverie 1 -- , : Gain 2 life." for as long as those counters remain.
Revolving Restaurant
Land (U)
: Add one mana of any color.
Reverie 4 -- : Add . The player to your left gains control of Revolving Restaurant.
When Revolving Restaurant's reverie becomes satisfied, Revolving Restaurant's owner gains control of it.
more co-operative stuff
