This is the placeholder thread for the Legacy Miracles Primer on MTG Nexus. If you would like to take over the primer for this particular deck, please message a Legacy staff member.

Miracles is the name given to the dominant strain of Blue-White Control in Legacy. It's named after cards with the Miracle mechanic, namely Terminus, though some lists additionally run Entreat the Angels. Miracles runs a large cantrip count to help filter its draws, set up miracles, and occasionally set up Counterbalance. This means that in addition to the usual Brainstorm and Ponder, it often runs some copies of Portent and/or Preordain. For dealing with spells, it packs some combination of Force of Will, Counterspell, Spell Pierce, Counterbalance, and most recently, Dovin's Veto. For dealing with creatures, there's the namesake Terminus, backed up by Swords to Plowshares, and some combination of Council's Judgment, Supreme Verdict, and occasionally Unexpectedly Absent. For generating card advantage or virtual card advantage, in addition to the Counterbalance and Terminus, the deck has access to a wide array of planeswalkers, including Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Narset, Parter of Veils, Teferi, Time Raveller, and sometimes Teferi, Hero of Dominaria. It also has access to Back to Basics, Accumulated Knowledge, Predict, Search for Azcanta, Snapcaster Mage, and Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, For closing out the game, in addition to Jace and Entreat the Angels, Monastery Mentor is the most common inclusion. Some lists run a higher count of Karakas alongside Vendilion Clique and Venser, Shaper Savant.

Miracles has largely been subsumed by UWx Control as a generic archetype. As such, this is what I've been rocking:
Decklist

Tamiyo and Brainstorm is one hell of a combo. Probably the best upgrade for this deck in a long time, though some versions are entirely creatureless and rely more on the Narset + Day's Undoing combo. I am personally not running it because DU is terrible on its own and 4 Narsets is one too many imo.
There's no biscuits and gravy in New Zealand.
(Except when DirkGently makes them!)

Ooh, interesting. How do you feel this version of the deck compares to the one with Mentor? Do you feel you're missing Mentor when you play without it?
