Welcome to the DCC!
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post in the DCC Discussion Thread.

How To Play

How does this card-making game work? It's simple! Whenever your card receives a vote, you receive [1] point for the month. If your card ends up with the most votes for that day, you will receive [2] additional points for the month. In the event of a tie, each person who tied receives [1] additional point. At the end of each month, the person with the most points on the scoreboard wins that month, then the scoreboard is cleared for the next month. You can participate in as many or as few days as you want in any month.

Rules

  • Each day you may post any card you want. On the next day all of the posted cards will be put into the thread as long as your card didn't get disqualified - see the next point for more details. If you post more than one card in a DCC thread, only the first card you post will be taken.
  • When you vote, you need to make exactly two votes for two different people. Vote for the cards that are listed in the first post, not other cards being posted in the thread. If you notice that you've only voted for one person, include your second vote in a post, even if you're not submitting a card.
  • If you want to change your vote for any reason, post that change in the day's thread (you can include it with your card if you want). Changed votes in the discussion thread will be ignored.
  • Voting for only one person, for three or more people, or for yourself will earn you an asterisk by your name in the monthly leaderboard. So will failing to vote if you've posted a card. (We're not going to do anything about people who don't vote or post cards; that would be kind of silly.) This indicates that you're on probation for the next 21 days. If you're on probation and you make another improper vote, your card will be disqualified. Repeated disqualification is grounds for warnings and/or infractions for not following the game rules, so please don't do it.
  • Voting for everything in the poll will be grounds for a lifetime ban from the DCC. Don't do it. It just wastes the thread creators' time.
  • If you wish to post a render, please use the hyperlink option when posting your card and make the card name the image link. Renders are usually large enough to clog up the list, so submit a text-formed card and (optionally) a link in the name tothe render.
  • This thread is just for your card submission. Take your questions/comments to our discussion thread. If it's a question, comment, or complaint about probation, PM void_nothing and/or the month's DCC organizer.
  • When posting make sure that:
    • You have included all of the previous day's entries.
    • You update the leaderboard with the previous day's scores.
(An easy way to post the new thread is to hit the multiquote button on every post in the previous day's thread, then click Post Reply. Select everything in this post, copy it, and then paste it into the first post for a new thread. You'll have to clean up a few small things, like quote tags around the opening post and the previous day's cards.)

Notes of the Day

On days when I don't have any clear ideas for what sort of card to make, I'll generally make a land.

The non-W faction of Kolyfar are the Serlaks. I was missing it until I refound them in one of the articles that I'm republishing, I refined their concept and put them right into my table. They are sapient creatures, physically half shark and half dinosaur, with the same physical appearance that I described in that article. They are natural predators (which fits in Jund) who plan their predatory attacks in detail before acting (which gives them the additional U). They are found on Kolyfar, but nobody knows their real origin. To other people on the plane, that's a mystery and there is a lot of speculation about it. The only thing they know for sure is that Serlaks are one of the two forces that prey on the plane, the other being the Wicked Pride, that you've already met. Obviously, as the author of the ongoing story in my table, I do know where Serlaks are from, how they got on Kolyfar, and what's their purpose there, but nor the denizens of the plane nor the reader will know any of that when we'll get to Kolyfar. There is something bigger going on with them in the story arc the Kolyfar set belongs to, but the reader will only learn that in future stories in that arc, and so will you. Maybe. We'll see. Mechanically, at least in the Kolyfar set, they are all about cards entering your graveyard, no matter from where.

Serlak Revelry {B/R}
Sorcery (R)
Spree (Choose one or more additional costs.)
+ 2 — Until end of turn, whenever one or more cards are put into your graveyard from anywhere, Serlak Revelry deals 1 damage to each opponent.
+ {U/B} — Target player mills four cards.
+ BR — You may discard a card. If you do, you draw two cards and you gain 2 life.
+ {R/G} — You may sacrifice a creature. If you do, it deals damage equal to its power to another target creature.

Glitterati Gathering 2W
Enchantment (U)
Invite — Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, choose one that hasn't been chosen this turn —
• Scry 1.
• Tap target creature an opponent controls.
• Create a Libation token. (It's an artifact with "2, T, Sacrifice this artifact: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. It becomes euphoric. Activate only as a sorcery.)
When Ambrose's glitterati all descend upon the same party, it's a radiant sight to behold.

You've already met Alfred, my Abzan-colored loxodon hermit archaeologist planeswalker. It's him in one of his solitary explorations in the flavor here. I've already told his backstory: he's been born in a farm and spent there all his early life and adolescence but he never liked farming life, so as soon as he can he leaves the farm and moves to the big city, where he starts experiencing social anxiety up to the point that he has to abandon the city, and it's at this point that he decides to become a hermit to escape his social anxiety, and archaeology has always been one of his passions, so why not put those together, explore archaeological sites by himself, and live in his mental image of what the world must have looked like when those weren't ruins but alive civilizations? So that's exactly what he does. His spark will ignite in one of his solitary explorations, but at this point he doesn't even know he has a planeswalker spark. Now that the Eurovision Song Contest is over, I can tell you all what was the inspiration for Alfred's backstory (I already had the character before but not his backstory): the Croatian entry "Rim Tim Tagi Dim" by Baby Lasagna, who ended up winning the televote and achieving second place in the final standings, marking the best result ever for his country in the ESC. I just love that song.

Extinction Relic B
Artifact (R)
When Extinction Relic enters the battlefield, target creature gets -2/-2 until end of turn.
2BB, T, Exile Extinction Relic: Destroy all creatures.
"These carved inscriptions suggest some kind of mass extinction must have occurred. I wonder what might have caused it."
