Nylea's Disciple was played in Green Devotion decks back when it was in Standard. It currently sits in the Modern Green Devotion deck's sideboard, possibly about to be replaced by this card.

Based on this, Gary, and Reverent Hoplite, I'm assuming it has more to do with there being a cycle at uncommon.
