Sporegorger_Dragon: Woah, woah, woah! We've gone full Ugin here! Two things that stick out immediately to me: the first, 'Ugin, the Ascendant' is incredibly packed with text and it would hardly fit in a normal card face so, unless the unfolded part is some kind of scroll, you should probably do a word count check. The second, is that when you have the Newly Sparked, you probably don't really bother to upgrade it once again, since it's already incredibly strong (ultimate after one turn, while creating 2/2 for defending himself?). I mean, you are probably fine with the 4/4 flying dragon that comes down on turn two/three already!
Overall, in my opinion, a triple faced card that wants to be too sensational.
Like a complete and utter idiot I forgot that lands are colorless permanents, it should really be nonland colorless permanents  The entire point was for Eldrazi, manifested cards and morphs to help out with the commander tax. I goofed this one up.

As for the Newly Sparked, I wanted him to be perfectly viable after the first transformation, with the third being a "win more" thing, since you have to go through two transformations.

As for the text on Ugin, Ascendant, an unfolded card gives you a lot of space, especially if you have the inner side spread out like a split card.

Like this, but sideways:

While working on this I'm learning there are a lot of effects I can make that are exactly twelve, eleven, or nine words long.

as a bonus thought exercise, we were looking at what the shortest rules text you could come up with for card without using keywords was. You can get to three easily. Two has fewer options, but is certainly possible.

However, there aren't currently any cards that exist with a single word (again, non-keyword) of rules text, and I'm not sure there's any that would work.

Feel free to ponder this one.

The only way for a one word rules text to work without a keyword would be for it to be an action a player can do. But the only ones that exist are keyworded, like cascade or populate.

The one thing I can think of is using precedent from partner cards like Chakram Retriever that use "shuffle" as a generic action without adding "your library".

That's a shortcut allowed because it's reminder text. Sagas (Song of Freyalise) also get to say just "enters" instead of "enters the battlefield" in order to fit their reminder text. Reminder text shortcuts don't set precedent for rules text though. The comprehensive rules for partners with and sagas still say "shuffles their library" and "enters the battlefield", and we still have to say what we're shuffling just like we need to say what the card's entering, since you can shuffle something other than a library.

Well it's still the best I can do. Makes more sense than a card whose only text is "Untap" or "Draw".

How's this:

Quizzical Glance U
Instant
Target. (Choose a target that can be a spell, ability, token, card in any zone or player. Nothing happens other than it being targeted by this spell.)

Well, of course that would be the standard wording, but we're trying to make a card with a single word of rules text.

There is a functional difference, too; my version has the tap as a cost, meaning it can't be countered by spells/abilities that counter activated abilities.
