I did not know that about sponges. Having no idea what a Sleeze actually was I googled it and found it to mean thin or flimsy when referring to a cloth. It being a group of sponges makes more sense for the size. The help to a second draw is what I liked about it having leftover counters but I believe it will cause players more discomfort from being unable to "heal". Also, the benefit of more easily accessing a second card makes it more contentious for uncommon.

Confounding Squid can make blocking math a nightmare. I have a very strong gut reaction of not liking the ability at all but it sounds fairly reasonable.

Can GW get "whenever a creature you control enters the battlefield or dies"? I know BG can.

Eh, that's a minor thing. Card looks fun, plus a squirrel with a crown is an excellent mental image.

The idea was that if cast for a green-white cost, green would provide the mechanical space of Tarpan, Sultai Flayer, Overgrowth Elemental & Pelakka Wurm etc.

Card of the Day 2020-03-25 >

Mire Sifter {3}{U}
Creature – Surrakar Spellshaper (U)
{B}, {T}, Discard a card: Target player reveals a number of cards from their hand equal to the number of Swamps you control. You choose one of them. That player discards that card.
If they don't find anything of value in the brine, surrakar just dive into the morass instead.

Interesting to see a Mire's Toll spellshaper as (effectively) multicolor. I guess that's one way to slow it down from becoming a one-mana Coercion spellshaper. Also, mechanically, this feels like it fits in with the surrakar, even though they haven't had any discard effects yet. But since they have a loose control effect theme to their abilities, it's a logical next step.

Works for me. I figured BG can get it because black has Deathgreeter and I think green can still get Essence Warden, but I didn't remember if Green had a Deathgreeter analogue.

Interesting minor twist compared to the tetravite tokens, which instead of having protection from enchantments, have "This creature can't be enchanted." Most of the time, though, there isn't a huge difference (probably). Neat.

Today I realized that while automatic text-scaling is not a thing, I can manually scale the text to make the text box appear closer to what it would look like on a card. Yay!

Card of the Day 2020-03-31 >

Inquisitor's Lackey {W}{B}
Creature – Thrull (U)
When ~ enters the battlefield, target opponent exiles their hand until ~ leaves the battlefield. They may play those cards for as long as they remain exiled.

This is way too cheap, dropping turn two essentially ends the game 90% of the time. Even assuming they are on the play and thus have two lands already they have to wait until their next turn to hope to draw a way to deal with it and each turn they fail to deal with it you get to take the lands they did have and even bin the useful cards if you can't cast them making it overwhelmingly crushing. The 10% of the time where it isn't game ending is where its countered or killed with its ability on the stack. This is like a 6 mana effect, not 2.

I think, I see the issue: It says "They may play those cards", not "You may play those cards".

I probably would have never caught that without it being pointed out. It's a strange card. I can't get even a ballpark feel on its strength.

That's delightful. I feel the same. Even having looked up some reference cards I felt like changing the numbers based on hunches. This feels like a card players would have to figure out by actually playing it. : )
