Yes - "When it regenerates this way" basically means "When the event of this permanent being destroyed is replaced by regenerating". You can't, for example, just activate the Sentry's ability three times to immediately force an opponent to draw three cards. See CR 701.5c - "Neither activating an ability that creates a regeneration shield nor casting a spell that creates a regeneration shield is the same as regenerating a permanent."
