Re: Trigger Happy Heliod

My two cents:

Crystalline Crawler seems kinda weak. Four mana for a card that might give you extra mana when you gettin life seems suspect.

Abzan Battle Priest has done some nice work for me, enough that other outlast creatures from Khans have gotten on the radar.

Re: Trigger Happy Heliod

I'll join the fray of Heliod players as well. A few random thoughts to correlate what's already been said: - My list has been combo-free for a week or two now, and I don't miss it. The combo was easy to assemble, but it wasn't very much fun after the second or third time. - The Rangers n Recruiters ...

Re: Heliod: Making White Decks Great Again, now Combo-free!

I don't know how I missed this thread when you first put it out there. I love that you keep repping mono white, first with GE Oketra and now Heliod. I hemmed and hawed about whether to run a soul sisters package in my Daxos, Blessed by the Sun deck (link in sig), but ultimately didn't want to use t...

Re: Heliod: Making White Decks Great Again

UPDATE: I've made the decision to cut out the obvious Walking Ballista combo from this deck. Further details can be found in the OP. The good news is that the Mindless Automaton I found to replace it is working very nicely! On a related note, Core Set 21 is now fully spoiled, and this deck is gettin...

Re: [EDH]- Neheb the Eternal - Please help

My Rakdos deck (below) operates on a similar game plan: damage the opponent, play the commander, profit. So, I can share a bit of experience that I've gained over the past few years. - Generally, you want to focus on consistent ways to enable your commander, and avoid one-shot tricks that stop worki...

Re: Mikaeus, Lord of Gold

Another Card Im realizing I should probably be running is Elspeth, Knight-Errant. While I can't speak for the evasion part, Elspeth, Sun's Champion is really, really good. She'll churn out a lot of creatures, or kill lots of things that aren't our low-to-the-ground troops. I'll second this. Elspeth...

I've had some great success with my Heliod deck (below). It has a lot of similar +1 counter effects in it, as well as a life gain theme.

Re: [Deck Tech] Help me Improve My Commander Deck!

I built my Zurgo deck (below) based on some observations I made from playing online games for the past month. Most opponents were weak to mass removal and removal that exiles instead of destroys or bounces. I also knew I wanted to play a couple specific spells: - Mythos of Snapdax , because I've had...

Re: Haldan and Pako: Man's Best Friend

You're probably right about the Wand. Oddly enough, I've had great success with Aria of Flame in other decks, but that's probably due to your point about the difference in casting cost. I think that multiple non-legendary copies of Pako work together, as Haldan just requires the card to be exiled &q...

Re: Pako & Haldan: Your stuff with a touch of frost (Feat. Marit Lage)

Regarding Mirrormade : would Clever Impersonator be better? On the one hand it's a creature but on the other hand it's more flexible. Also, would this deck need Riftsweeper ? In case we exile something of ourselves that we want to get back? I'd probably go with Clever Impersonator over Mirrormade ,...

Re: [Deck Tech] Help me Improve My Commander Deck!

Those artifact-centric planeswalkers like the Saheelis and Tezzerets didn't make the cut because I run a fairly artifact-light list, but does that not really matter? Is making a 1/1 every time I cast a spell worth it even if I have no high value targets for them to copy? I've been running Saheeli, ...

Re: Heliod: Making White Decks Great Again

What would you think about Drannith Magistrate ? I got a foil as a gift and love that he shuts off everything. My first thought is that it's always going to be effective, especially since Heliod is generally cheaper than most commanders by about a full turn. However, it's a hate-bear, which means i...

Re: Heliod: Making White Decks Great Again

I wonder if Verge Rangers has a place in the deck? When I saw that card, I thought about how great it should be in any mono-white lists. Though I know it lacks any life gain synergy with what you're trying to accomplish, I see you have cards like Solemn Simulacrum in your list, and I suspect the ra...

Re: "Help me cut a card" thread

My Scarab God deck (sig below) just received a copy of Woe Strider in the mail. This deck has been around for quite a while, so the list of possible cards is enormous, and cuts are extremely tight. Any suggestions for it?

Re: Pako & Haldan: Your stuff with a touch of frost (Feat. Marit Lage)

Oh wow, that's a great point. I completely forgot about the second ability on the Agent. Usually I can only steal one card before it dies, but this should be an exception. I still think Blatant Thievery belongs in the list, but the Agent might belong as well.

Re: Pako & Haldan: Your stuff with a touch of frost (Feat. Marit Lage)

Cuts are always my favorite part about new lists, mostly because they're the hardest part of the deck building process and especially hard to do on your own list. So... - Starting with the creatures...I'm on the record saying that I think these guys want as few actual creature spells as possible. On...

Re: Mimeoplasm (first ever commander deck)

I think the first place to start is with your mana base. As with all decks in all other formats, you can make significant improvements just by making your mana base more functional. - The biggest thing that I would fix is the number of lands. Your commander costs five, you're very likely to cast him...

Re: Haldan and Pako: Man's Best Friend

Played two more games with this deck today, and the results weren't great. Both games I kept hands with no ramp in them (one had no green sources, probably should have been a mulligan), so I didn't get off to the greatest start. Both games also ended rather abruptly, one by way of a Nim Deathmantle ...

Foil Tag Issue

Hi, not sure if this is the right place for this, but I noticed that the foil symbol in my deck only shows up for the left-most column, and I'm not sure why. I'm using Chrome on my iPhone if it helps.

Re: Haldan and Pako: Man's Best Friend

I've also had Seasons Past in my list since the beginning, although I've said my piece on extra turn loops. I suppose it wouldn't be the worst to try one out in the interest of having another win-condition. Ideally, I'd love to explore other such loops with something besides a Time Warp , preferably...

Re: Nissa's Spanish Inquisition!

Hey all, just wondering if we could drum up some discussion on ways to win that don't involve the combat step. For the record, I run Yeva, Nature's Herald at the helm, but the deck plays out similarly. So far, I've noticed that my only real way to win involves some form of Overrun -effect, aided by ...

Re: Haldan and Pako: Man's Best Friend

This is going to be a tough debate, and I respect the opinions of well-versed people like pokken . Ultimately, I think it's going to come down to play style, preference, or whatever you want to call it, as both arguments have some merit. But, I'm going to lean towards the side of ramp spells like Fa...
