Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

To my delight, I discovered that Noble Hierarch is now a very reasonable price. I placed an order for a playset of those and Maraleaf Pixie. More creatures means more potential value from Path, and more mana dorks means more value from Kinnan, in general. Will report back with results.

Re: Achromatic Barrens

I took out a Crawling Barrens and Terrain Generator for 2 Weatherlight Compleated . I have a bunch of weak creatures that are just there to eat attacks when I don't have a boss monster out, and this card benefits from being less selective about my blocking. Also...it's a 2-drop that draws me cards....

Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

I understand your concerns, HOWEVER, it's actually ridiculously good for getting insane value from Descendants' Path - which it does in spades. I've tested the deck as-is, and aside from when my enchantments got Blast Zone 'd, it was pretty excellent. That said...I realized that Kinnan doesn't buff ...

Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

Tested Shapesharers, earlier. Opponent was smart and killed one, early on, but then I got another out while I had a Kairi and went to town with my 2 Descendants' Path. Managed to win at 2 life.

Will test more later today.

I've taken out 1 Narset and the remaining 2 Lab Men to accommodate 3 Spellseeker. Will report back after testing.

Re: Sneak & Breach

A thought:

I'm gonna test some variations of 3-3 or 4-2 3ball/Blood Moon distribution, as Blood Moon is frequently my weakest prison piece.

Will report back with results, once I have them.

I'd look at Spellseeker over a TNN given it can help us snag some combo pieces
Hmm...a worthy consideration! Thanks for the suggestion. :) I'll give it a whirl.

Re: Sneak & Breach

I sold my Legacy box a while back, but I missed playing this deck, so I decided I wanted to rebuild it. City was a little out of the budget, but Crystal Vein has been an excellent replacement. I find that, most often, the deck loses to itself - just, running out of fuel, dead draws/hands, mana flood...

Let me also ask, in a related vein: If I'm playing combo decks (one mono-R, one mono-U), what should I be siding in against Delver?

Re: Oracle's Shift

Ethereal Forager did a whole lot of nothing when I drew it, which was...pretty infrequently. I'm actually considering True-Name Nemesis, instead. Thoughts?

Really? Why does it require multiple shapeshifters? Can it not target itself?

Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

Shapesharer could be a good, cheap Changeling to run a few of. I also really like that it can force a death trigger on my Kamigawa dragons if I need it to...

Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

Got to play some Magic on Tuesday. Casual-60 UG Dragonsong feels like it's missing something, but of what that something is, I am not entirely sure. Still, fun to pilot, and I love the options that Descendant's Path and Kinnan's activated ability offer with the Kamigawa 1.0 & 2.0 dragon Legends ...

Re: Your last legacy games

Got to play some Magic on Tuesday. Had a friend over for some Casual-60, and we jammed some Legacy, as well, because I wanted to test Ethereal Forager in Oracle's Shift. Unfortunately, none of the games we played enabled me to actually use Foragers, but Lab Man has felt rather weak in the deck for a...

Re: Oracle's Shift

Thoughts on Ethereal Forager in Lab Man's slot? Could be some potential recursion for cantrips/tutors or Paradigm Shift (or even counterspells!), as well as a decently-sized flying body to deal with threats such as Marit Lage and Delver, and make the deck's mid-game and endgame stronger and more con...

Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

I already have a Casual-60 deck with fetches (to fuel Kroxa's Escape) - having two feels like overkill. I think I'm gonna grab that 3rd Kinnan, the set of Temples and Pools, and the 2 Harmonize and see how it plays against the person I primarily play this non-format with. :D Will keep you posted on ...

Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

Oh, I was specifically referring to Kinnan's "additional mana" ability, not his "cheatyface" ability! If that weren't a factor, yes, Arbor Elf would absolutely be the better choice, given the changes to the enchantments. As far as the way my Causal-60 "optimization" goe...

Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

...yeah, I guess if it plays well enough as-is when the new stuff comes in, there's no reason I can't also upgrade it with Temples and Breeding Pools. Thanks for the recommendation! So the problem with replacing Birbs with Elf is that there is less for Kinnan to proc off of...but I'll give it some t...

Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

Yeah, the idea is to have the two mana acceleration enchantments immediately playable, along with the dork; Kinnan is there to buff the latter's abilities even more, as well as cheat things out, and also the reason I was considering the Signets. It's super easy for this deck to be able to get out a ...

Re: EXPLODING VEGAN DINOSAURS

Yeah, that makes sense.

I miss turning everything into a massive combustion reaction with Last Laugh, but the deck is definitely more consistent since striking down that third color.

Re: ...so, I lied. I built another deck. UG Legendary Dragonsong!

Aaand I realized I accidentally included the wrong enchantments. I picked up playsets of Fertile Ground , Utopia Sprawl , and Wild Growth because I wanted the enchantments to be acceleration , not color fixing . On that note, of the three, which two would probably play best, in place of Abundant and...

Re: EXPLODING VEGAN DINOSAURS

I like the addition of Pyrohemia on an enrage deck. Would agree that two each of these enchantments are enough. You need creatures, and the Raging Regisaur slots in just fine. Armasaur and Phytohydra as token producers. Hmm, seems good. do you not run into mana problems? only 20 land on a deck load...

Yup yup, that's the gameplan! Just spam lands to thin the deck out, buff the Barrens as applicable, and drop as many Walkers as possible.
