Grenzo: Dumb & Dumber
Quintessentially red. "Never argue with idiots because they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." -- The Internet Be that idiot. Drag your opponents down to your level and beat them with experience. You may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, even as you discover...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
Rule 0 is a lot better for getting a card unbanned than it is for getting a card banned. It's a lot easier to manage your own expectations, bringing the banned card you'd like to include in your deck, as well as its replacement, than it is to expect others to bring replacements for whatever card won...

Re: Card list by Role/Function - What's your approach?
I just list by type as well, and if a card has multiple, I use the last, EG: Artifact Creature goes in Creatures. I consider prior supertypes adjectives. I'd love to sort by function, because I think and build by function, but many cards cover multiple functions. Take my Endrek Sahr deck: one card m...

Re: Changing your deck's power level without changing cards
Another perk of losing the tutors is that you quickly and regularly discover new and unintended perks and synergies with a more zen-like playstyle. My tutors are never silver bullets. They're redundant copies of the only cards I know can win games at the moment, but often during deck construction I ...

Re: Commander 2019 Speculation
None of those mechanics really excite me, but I predict flashback being the rare, expensive deck with four decks worth of reprint value, Populate being an okay but not exciting starting deck for newbies, and madness and morph collecting dust on store shelves through 2025.

Re: Data on winning turns
My thought was that having a general idea of what was better phrased as the critical turn would allow people to better build on par with one another. For example, when you brew modern, you know about when your opponents will be planning their own critical turn. A lot of Commander's challenge as a fo...

Re: Changing your deck's power level without changing cards
Being in a position where you can graciously let others experience what winning feels like, but always be capable of winning on demand so that your playgroup doesn't forget its place is probably an enviable one.

Data on winning turns
The average winning turn is probably the most used metric to determine deck strength. Endrek Sahr usually gets off in six to twelve turns. It would be interesting to see where Commander players stand in terms of where they're comfortable winning. EDHRec doesn't crunch this sort of data yet. It'd let...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
cEDH is probably second only to Vintage in its capacity to have win conditions with such a runaway success rate as Flash has enabled. If it's possible to ban Flash without descending down a slippery slope of policing a possibly ever diminishing requirement as to what constitutes an out of control be...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
It would probably be more productive to petition the competitive minded Duel Commander offshoot, who split because of exactly this continuing debate, to consider multiplayer in their decisions than it would be to try and get traditional Commander to be what the first wave of competitive dissidents c...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
With the degree to which cEDH players organize independently, they should have an even easier time than the casuals in invoking house rules to take care of a card here or there that's taking over their meta.

Re: First Annual Commander Climate Survey
I just got done voting. Unban Recurring Nightmare, ban nothing, keep the status quo on pretty much everything, format's great, RC's great, my opinions receive exactly the attention they deserve, and so on.

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
Commander is a format that works. I wouldn't change the course you've set for running it. If anyone could create the next Commander, they would. People made Tiny Leaders - Tiny Playerbase. WotC made, I can't even remember the name, but it was pretty much Standard Commander, and look how that took of...

Re: Changing Commanders
I only have a single Commander deck, a pet deck in Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder. It's my honest attempt to abandon my Spike, and embrace my Johnny/Melvin. Even if WotC prints Endrek Sahr, the Functionally Identical but Strictly Superior, I don't know that I'd swap, but it would have to be something l...

Re: [Announcement] Ban List Update
I have no particular issue with the new bans, and I'm always up for an unban, but there has to be a way to phrase the rationale for banning Iona that doesn't paint the RC as out of touch. You don't need a Washington DC spin doctor to come to the conclusion that they thought players weren't casting I...

Re: Old characters left for legends?
A Mishra who cooperates with what EDH is all about would be great. I've only read about the hoops you have to jump through to make him more than just for colors as a commander. I'd also appreciate a retooling of Griselbrand solely so that I can make a Liliana deck with all four demons, and a Dragonl...
