Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

I'll yay Volcanic Offering because it seems fun and there just aren't many places you could play it. Maybe it's bad to have in hand, but hopefully we can put it back on top of the library when this happens. I dunno I think I'm sort of talking myself out of it, but I'll stick with the yay for now.

Oblation. Good removal, not too far under our commander's power, emergency card draw for us.

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

I'll put in a Yay for Battle Angels of Tyr . Also works for Bonder's. I am uncertain about Wild Ricochet because I don't understand what Crazy Monkey is talking about with stack order and triggers making this not work for cards we freecast with Velomachus. Or do you mean we can't use it when we swin...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

Henlock - I think that getting some ramp and card draw out of the way first is sensible (which I think is 3drinks' intent). Once we're loaded for bear on some staples, we can probably figure out more of a theme for the deck. So we have some draw that just works, and we're thinking incidentally abou...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

Also nay on Thorough investigation . Seems like our business is getting the Dragon online and freecasting scary stuff more than early aggression. Haven't looked into it too hard, but anything that would hit while Velo is on the field that gives us Monarch may actually be a good bet for later game dr...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

2nd cast of Approach of the Second Sun has to be cast from hand or it doesn't work, which makes this a little more complicated, no? Makes me say nay because it turns into a bit of a nonbo.

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

My thought re: Bonder's is that it works in the lategame, and has the benefits TheAmericanSpirit mentioned - it's a land, it gives mana, won't get hit by sweepers, is inconspicuous, and isn't symmetrical like some of the ones you mentioned, 3drinks . So I'm hardly married to it, but I think it'll wo...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

Yay Dragon's Rage Channeler. She'll do work here. I'll put Bonders' Enclave up. It'll be on with our commander and hopefully some others. If we're free casting spells on the attack, then we can use some saved mana to draw later.

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

I'll nay Sunforger. It's good in the right spot but I agree the deck is already too mana intensive with our commander. Yay windfall.

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

Aw crap I've been called out uh… Prosperous Partnership would be pretty funny to get working in a deck and our commander already has vigilance so let's get a little incremental value. I don't actually expect this to pass, but who knows. It's hardly ever going to be worth removing, and it's likely to...

Yeah dgt has gone crazy for me a number of times.

Do you have a current list?
It's close enough to yours to not be worth noting differences. I tend to just copy a list these days and then experiment from there, so your last iteration is where I'm at. Fairly few alterations.

Lol, it does happen a lot :) Been happening to you too?
Deep Gnome Terramancer and Land Tax have been the most frequent culprits in this regard - they just drain the deck of basics at a hilarious rate. It's a good problem to have because I hit my land dropsTM

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

@Moonlighter Of course it's all subjective - what would a debate about something objective look like? I guess you could have a debate about something scientific, i.e. I think this celestial object looks like X whereas you think it looks like Y, which presumably does have a correct objective answer....

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

I'm with Toshi , I love these things. I love a good classic DirkGently fight. They tend to all have a similar structure, though I'm not 100% sure I can articulate it. Maybe Ulka and I can write a thesis on the process, if not the content. But this one's good because I happen to enjoy Yojimbo a lot. ...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v6.0

Yay all three. Wondering about a ramp package using Geomancer's Gambit and Cleansing Wildfire and some indestructible lands for some ramp shenanigans for us. I'll nominate if people don't think it's too clunky.

Re: Emiel the Blessed, ETB tool box

Deck works as advertised. Becomes hilariously oppressive as the game goes on. I kept flickering Wood Elves whenever Emiel got targeted, and I could afford to pay 10 for her in the late game because I was sitting on so many lands. I ended up 'Hoofing the table, no problem.

Re: Baba Lysaga, Night Witch: Turbo Bloom

I am going to figure a bit of a rework on this to suit my playstyle and group a bit more. I keep getting railed by having too few resources in play to capitalize on what I've got. I think I need some of those cheaper recurrent enchantments, like Spreading Algae and Screams from Within , as both of t...

Re: Queen Breena's Full Contact Politics

I tend to get slapped in the 1v1, and people have started to cop to the fact that you need to kill Breena as the game winds down, so I think the Ozolith will help by adding an extra target for them to have to remove. I've never run into the Guardian of Faith , so I don't have a strong thought about ...

Re: Queen Breena's Full Contact Politics

Any thoughts about The Ozolith as a backup for counters in case of removal? It makes for yet another thing your opponents have to deal with to slow this deck down. Having a lot of fun playing Breena. She does exactly as advertised. I don't have to politic, just remind people who they have to hit to ...

Re: Baba Lysaga, Night Witch: Turbo Bloom

Liking this deck a lot. Tested a game with it last night and felt like I need to get the turn order right, but in terms of sac fodder, using lands hurts. Wondering if maybe Shigeki, Jukai Visionary , Skola Grovedancer , or Tymaret, Chosen from Death might be good ways to get a little more types on t...

Re: The Tarmogoyf question

Palmer was a prescient man, and a hero. [paraphrased] Magic is a game that is pressured to constantly push the envelope and things we think are obscene now are doomed to be one upped. They spent a very long time trying not to allow scope creep to come on too hard and then in the last few years when...
