Re: [Deck] Azorius Control

Just a quick observation. Stoneforge Mystic is a card that lots of players yet have to understand. In reality it's simple: in a shell like UW Control, if you want to run it here (4 Snaps, 4 Stoneforge and stop) you should just go for double Batterskull. Not stylish enough? So what. Swords aren't goo...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

Well it's not like there are any lists with Archmage's Charm, Torrential Gearhulk, and mainboard EE posting up results either. And I'm not trying to criticize your deck at all -- I'd have to put some reps in with it before I felt comfortable even trying to criticize it. But Esper is often in unchar...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

There is a slight case we should incorporate a Twisted Image mainboard, that's right. If this is the case, the only slot it's replacing, is one catrip. Didn't like it in the past, in a field full of Affinity and Spellskite, I don't like it now. I'm assuming this doesn't include Remand as a cantrip?...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

23 lands and 7 cantrips is overkill. Too much air in the deck. Spellskite is a horrible maindeck card, and I would NEVER side it against Jund. 23 lands, 7 cantrips would be okay in a Kiki-Jace shell. There's definitely no need for such amount of mana, here. Spellskite dies to Kommand (metà game full...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

about 1 mountain. Not that big of a deal. We have to be able to fetch it for Burn. Not sure what are you talking about. There is one Mountain in the list. I said I dislike running BOTH Mountain and Loothouse. Sorry, also, I disagree with 4 opt + 0 Serum, on 22 lands Actually, in my last list you ca...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

The more I think about it, the more appealing Seasoned Pyromancer in the maindeck is. It ditches away dead Twin copies rotting in our hands, useless counterspells in the Humans matchup and creates a board against Liliana all in one. Probably, I would just go: -2 Serum -1 Vendilion +1 Land +2 Pyroman...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

[mention]BloodyRabbit[/mention] , do you accept my list B as something you would want at a Twin list to playtest? Yep. Regardless of personal choices, I would only state two things about that list: a) You cannot afford BOTH basic Mountain and Loothouse in the same core while being heavy on Charms. ...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

I hope people like @BloodyRabbit , or @cfusionpm can accept the fact that there are Serum visions in the list at maindeck Oh, wait. I like additional cantrips. It's just a matter of space, but it can be made. I've got nothing against 4 Opt + 2 Serum/Sleight. Expecially with 22 lands. I like them le...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

There are some points which are kinda incorrect in the analysis. ------- a) UR Twin played, usually, 23 lands + 4 Serum + 4 Remand. Stop. Remember that Kiki costs one mana more than Twin. 23 Lands + 3/4 Serum + 4 Opt + 4 Remand are fundamentally flawed, unless... b) You play Jace TMS maindeck. IMHO ...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

Something else is, didnt people start shaving off a Twin? 6 Tappers and 3 Twins? I played 3 Twin when running Jeskai Twin and Tempo Twin with Young Pyromancer (basically the same shell as TarmoTwin). I do think the fourth one is correct when you don't have enough power to reliably close a game. Eit...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

So, four 4-drops, but 3 opt 3 SV 4 remand, have to be working right, yes?
And 22 lands? No way it isn't working.

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

More Tar-Pits, more creatures, more Forces, more ways to interact with it on stack and on the play. Simply put.

Explosives maindeck. D-Sphere in the sb.

There's a universe of difference in these lists in dealing with early walkers. Try it and you'll see by yourself.

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

I was used to play UR Twin with 22 lands, 4 Remands and 4 Visions. For years. It means having a huge possibility of going straight for three lands in a row without having to using cantrips, and Charms help digging for other mana sources if necessary. I wouldn't touch it. If you also add Jace (2 othe...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

This deck would want to operate exclusively on the opponent's turn. Not running more than one Clique, the full set of Opt and some copies of Archmage's Charm seems just WRONG. Creatures(12) 4 Snapcaster Mage 3 Deceiver Exarch 3 Pestermite 2 Vendilion Clique Enchantments(4) 4 Splinter Twin Spells(22)...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

I don't want to be "that guy", seriously. But running White Sun's Zenith in the late 2019 seems just wrong. Not by the looks of it, but by experience. That card is massively underpowered compared to the rest of the field. There's a reason if NO ONE list in the Modern footage events feature...

Re: UWx Stoneblade

Lol? There are ZERO edits in my post. Why the hell are you dissing me for something I never said? Check it yourself, man, and chill before speaking. I stated what you read. My points stand still. Usually you'll have at least 4 Stoneforge, 2-3 Jace, 3 Equipments, 2-3 Teferi, some number of sorcery sp...

Re: UWx Stoneblade

We have a VERY different idea of 'istant speed'. Stoneforge, Narset, Teferi, Jace, equipments + equip cost, Sphere, possibly Geist. No, that's definitely a tap-out strategy. When someone is killing your creature in response to the equipping, it doesn't matter that you can't force the removal. You pr...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)

As predicted, right now is Midrange grindfest all the way. And I'm killing people with efficient Grixis Shadow beatings. I love playing Seize-Snap decks in this metagame.

Re: UWx Stoneblade

Because: a) most decklists are tap-out shells, not draw-go, and free counterspell is exactly what you need to make them work. Turn two is a crucial turn, btw. b) lots of CA sources in the deck (Mystic is only the newcomer) make up for the card disadvantage, and FoN is a powerful card on its own past...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)

Another good point of Stoneblade in Modern, though, is that most likely the format won't be so hostile to Shadow decks anymore.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)

By the way, since someone mentioned it: in Legacy Stoneforge is a very good card mostly because you play it, the opponent kills it, you Brainstorm away the Batterskull doing +1. Here we only have Jace to do the same job.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)

Probably the deck needs more interaction, now that it's going to be slower. Thing and Drake as beaters, Aria as backup threat, Force of Negation and Spell Pierce in the mix.

Against Jund he's amazing, especially after they started playing four Bloodbraid Elf.
