Re: What is going in your decks from C20 and Ikoria?

Realistically I won't even buy a box of this set. Drannith Magistrate and Verge Rangers are the only two cards the really interest me. I might pick up a copy of the free blue counterspell but I already run so many, it will probably just go into a lower powered deck.

Re: Killing commanders (permanently)

3) Mindslaver . There's only 4 cards that let you control an opponent (not counting word of command which I'm pretty sure can't be used in this way, but if there's some way it can be lmk, that card is confusing as hell), and two are black (sorin, worst fears, emrakul being the other 3), so your opt...

Re: Thassa’s Oracle and the Case for Flash

First I think that Cedh requires more bans than casual edh since Cedh players actively try to break the format. (imo there isn't really a need for bans in casual formats at all since people regulate their on powerlevel: it's not the banlist that prevents people from bringing T2 combo decks to a cas...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Best use of Jegantha uses I can see are: najeela, the blade-blossom . infinite combat steps. Yikes. That seems potentially pretty busted. At least you have to put your cards on the table right away. How does this go infinite? Najeela untaps creatures that are attacking, Jegantha has to tap to make ...

Re: help with my Atraxa Superfriends

Some things to look at from my old superfriends deck... Ashiok, Dream Render: shuts down library searching and exiles graveyards. Whats not to like? Ashiok, Nightmare muse: protects itself and mills opponents. Primevils Glorious Rebirth: return all walkers to the field for 7, sure why not. Narset, P...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

How does this go infinite? Najeela untaps creatures that are attacking, Jegantha has to tap to make the mana, not attack. Unless I am missing something, this doesn't work. Use Najeela's ability to untap it for wubrg. Then, while it's still attacking, tap untap tap untap etc. Mind you, unlimited att...

Re: Thassa’s Oracle and the Case for Flash

1. I think from a political standpoint you're going to find it's impossible to ban 3 cards in EDH just because of cEDH. That would be like 10-12 percent of the banlist depending on your count. (3/25-28) First I think that Cedh requires more bans than casual edh since Cedh players actively try to br...

Re: Lutri, the Spellchaser Preemptively Banned

While some of these cards have obvious deck building restrictions I'd go so far as to say that all of them do (except Lutri obviously, hence banhammer). But Lutri was obviously a test to see how this went for commander.... seems like a crack at a floodgate. "That's not magic!" Floodgate i...

Re: Unique/Original Blink Deck Ideas

Oh I just remembered (maybe because I am trying to rebuild it) my old blink deck. If you like life shenanigans maybe try Orzhov? I used to run a blink deck with Obzedat the Ghost Council at the helm, and it wasn't uncommon for my to be over 100 life. Very much a casual deck though, but you could add...

Re: What factors go into rating your deck?

CMC, price and the average turn it goldfishes a win have always been the metrics I use to get a ballpark, but I've found them unreliable for the most part. My Baral Polymorph deck hit high marks in all three, but was something of a predictable one trick pony. One year, I spent two grand on every an...

Re: Lutri, the Spellchaser Preemptively Banned

I know I am very late to the party on this topic but figured I would throw my two cents out there. Lutri didn't need banned, "companion" needed banned. The whole philosophy of having no side board has changed my view of deck building, and has steamlined my builds more than I would have oth...

Re: Unique/Original Blink Deck Ideas

I mean it's not exactly non-obvious but I've been having a blast with my Thassa blink deck - mono color really constrains you to picking some offbeat cards like dream eater and scourge of fleets . While the commander is fairly important to the engine, it's also very resilient. Thassa: https://deckb...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Yeah, my group finally got me to cave and build a budget list, and that's out the window now. I had a feeling my group was getting to that point so I built Vaevictus. I have the second most expensive deck in my play group and one of the most consistent ones that doesn't run any proxies. Luckily I w...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Damn I am missing some Commander. I only managed to play every couple of weeks anyway, but dammit I am jonesing. I'm tweaking one of my favorite decks, and now it's going to be forever until I can put it through its paces. I'm like Paula Cole with how I don't wanna wait. I was playing at least 2 ni...

Re: What factors go into rating your deck?

Power level is an interesting question. I personally look at lines to win the game and the consistency of the deck. Finally I look at how well the deck can play when behind. For example, I'll try to give an accurate representation of my current decks below: Thrasios/Tymna: Solid 9. Runs multiple inf...

Re: Thassa’s Oracle and the Case for Flash

Personally, I don't think flash is the problem, Hulk is the issue. Hulk is what allow's players to pull out everything that they need to win (spellseeker, thassa's oracle, blood pet) and is completely un-interactive unless you stifle one of the etb's. In my experience ive seen flash used in a variet...

Re: What are your favourite mono-white and mono-blue generals?

I signed up just to become part of the magic community more. Honestly, I have to give a big shout out to my first mono colored deck, and one of my favorite decks for EDH to date. That would have to be Thassa, Deep Dwelling. She's a ton of fun and a huge value engine that can be a beefy blocker when ...
