Re: Derevi, ETB Tactician - Value Town

@ZenN What's the Golos list you have look like? This was the last list I played a game with. I had thrown in Peregrine Drake and Ghostly Flicker for shiggles, but I don't think I'll be keeping them. They're both good cards on their own here, but also just too combo-y. Commander (1) 1 Golos, Tireles...

Re: Derevi, ETB Tactician - Value Town

pokken Yeah, of what I've got listed here, Restoration Angel was my first thought to go. That said, I'm currently testing the Golos helmed version of this deck, which has already given Resto the boot, so I'll need to take a look. Also, I would definitely not place Glorious Guardian above Reveillark...

Re: Derevi, ETB Tactician - Value Town

I don't know over what, just yet, but I'm pretty confident that Glorious Guardian is going in here, at the very least to try it out.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Glorious Guardian is super sweet. Probably going into at least my ETB deck.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Cosima, God of the Voyage came so close to me caring. If it didn't have to hit the table first, and then survive a turn cycle, it might actually be worth playing. It could have had 2U: Exile from hand. Instead it's an instant hard pass. Sad.

Re: Golos: An ETB Journey

What do you think of the new snow-Clone guy/girl/thing @ZenN? Moritte of the Frost could have some cool implications, but I've recently realized that I have quite a number of legendary permanent cards in my Golos deck now. The ability to copy any permanent is pretty cool, but I can't think of any i...

Re: Golos: An ETB Journey

Ah-Ha! I've found the new 6 CMC creature to replace Ulvenwald Hydra ! I Burning-Rune Demon is perfect for Kaalia and for this list. Make no mistake, this card is basically an ETB Intuition effect, so I highly recommend picking up a copy ASAP before they inevitably spike. As long as you have solid r...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Battle of Frost and Fire is actually pretty cool. 4 damage is often enough to wipe the board of the majority of things, and the rest of the value you get from it is nice. I don't think it goes into any of my decks right now, but it's definitely something I could see myself playing in the future. I ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Zodiac Rabbit is good in one EDH deck. Angel of Serenity is good in Kaalia of the Vast, Mayael the Anima, Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign, Bruna, the Fading Light, Lyra Dawnbringer, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Athreos, Shroud-Veiled, Roon of the Hidden Realm, etc. Don't forget that Angel of Serenity is also ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

The sad truth is that most of white's main strengths are just not good in this format. Incremental life gain, or life gain as its own strategy, is great in 20 life formats, but fine at best here. Strong aggressive creatures that benefit heavily from playing 4 copies are amazing in a 4-of 60 card for...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

ISBPathfinder Yeah, standard was a little borked there for a while. I came back into it with the release of Zendikar Rising, after having not played standard since original Theros. I can honestly say that standard feels pretty healthy right now to me, with a lot of viable decks of different colours...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I don't understand when wizards says that white is in a good spot and then point at a UW deck that is like a bunch of blue walkers, counterspells, and a few white wraths. White has been in a miserable place for like forever and they have justified it because white has wraths and every other color j...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

ISBPathfinder I would absolutely argue that you missed a lot of very strong cards in that list. Several that I listed above, plus some older ones off the top of my head like Heliod, God of the Sun , Angel of Serenity , and Cataclysmic Gearhulk , I think you may have been looking at the list a preco...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I think I was letting the miserable trash cycles overly color my perspective. cards like Mangara, the Diplomat and God-Eternal Oketra definitely show they're trying. And Heliod, Sun-Crowned as well. With Heliod and Oketra being some of the best of their cycles too it's hard to even argue my point l...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

In reviewing this I think the most playable white mythic in the last million years is probably Luminous Broodmoth. Mostly the effects are overcosted or underwhelming. But it's clear that they are actually trying a little as we see guys like Harmonious Archon. There have actually been a decent numbe...

Damn. It's Rune-Scarred Demon but better and cheaper.
Sort of. The effect is closer to Intuition, which is even better in the right deck. But all the same caveats apply, of course.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

See, I think Starnheim Unleashed actually looks fine. It might not be anything super exciting and unique, and it's a decent card. It might not be a huge player in EDH, but in other formats it should be decent. It's probably going to see standard play, if I had to guess. I'd probably try it in Oathbr...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

The World Tree seems sweet. A buddy of mine was once, years ago, running a Karona, False God helmed god tribal deck. I wonder if this will be enough to prompt him to try it again. Either way, even just the Chromatic Lantern part of it is probably strong enough for it to be a 5 colour deck staple go...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Seems a bit good for five mana like the original, let's make it cost six. Amusing, but original Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger definitely did not cost 5. Esika seems like a solid addition to 5-color legends, though unlikely to ever beat out Sisay. You know, unless you're specifically looking to go infi...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I think the challenging part is that those tribes are still very narrow. Its not as if there aren't good angels / clerics out there but there still are incredibly few legends that give reasonable payoff in a way to incentivize you to push deep on any one of these two tribes. The few that exist seem...

@benjameenbear I haven't tried Kodama of the East Tree yet, but I'm pretty sure that with whatever deck I put it in, I won't be able to resist including bounce lands plus landfall token makers.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

When I use DFCs, I always just use the appropriate checklist card, and then keep the actual card in a clear Dragonshield, in the box of tokens I keep with my decks (which are all also in clear Dragonshields, with two tokens per sleeve back to back, except the few that are themselves double faced).

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I don't actually care for Halvar, God of Battle at all as a commander, but I love the precedent he sets. Now we just need an actual good card, ideally with good colours, to take advantage of this design concept.
