Darien the Forty-Eighth?

The first one was from about 1600 years prior, so that tracks.

Yes, I realize that - but have the Kjeldorans only been using one king name this whole time?
User avatar
Why not? France went all the way to Louis XVIII, after all.

It is pretty common for regents to pick up or get named after one of the predecessors. It's the reason we have a Carl Gustav in Sweden and an Elizabeth in Britain after all.

As for the card itself, pretty good for token strategies, something green/white excels at. I could see myself running him in my Trostani deck.

Look, I want to love this card, but forty-eight kings in a row with the SAME regnal name stretches credulity. There have only been about half that many Pope Johns, and that's considered a heavily repeated name in history.

You'd think so, but considering just how many Pope Johns, and Carl Gustav's that have been just over the last 1000 years, it's not impossible. Now, add to this that we are talking about a fantasy setting, and that it is possible that the guy in question perhaps wasn't born with that name, but took it when he took the crown due to tradition, it starts to become credible.

Do you honestly believe that all those Pope John's and Carl Gustav's were born with that name? Lol.
