Re: Zada: Grinding up an Arcane Storm

I don't think that does much more than infinite magecraft, because it only triggers to make copies on cast. Those copies aren't cast, and won't trigger the first section of text to make copies for each cast of the commander. It ends up being the same as Fork targeting Reiterate because copies are no...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

I'll also yea Dictate of Erebos, with similar hesitancy to others. It can definitely be a blowout when played right and we're planning on sacrifice loops so it pulls its weight. It's also a 5 MV spell with a big target on it for any creature based decks.

Re: Zada: Grinding up an Arcane Storm

Honestly, Kuldotha Rebirth is a card I should revisit. I've added enough treasure that a effectively a 2 mana Hordeling Outburst is worth considering.

I think that Fury Storm is overcosted for cEDH. If it was Heat Shimmer instead of Fork, then it would probably be worth the 4 mana.

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

I was planning to nominate Wall of Omens or Spirited Companion , but did a search to make sure there wasn't a better option that I didn't remember. For that reason, I nominate Inspiring Overseer because creature types matter in this deck. It's less effecient than I wanted, but much easier and more l...

Re: Zada: Grinding up an Arcane Storm

On the first deck, there are some cards that I never really got to work well in my experience. Dragon's Rage Channeler is low MV but ends up being functionally the same as 2 creatures. You have gone deeper into graveyard recursion, so surviel fueling it may work but I recall being underwhelmed. The ...

Re: So like, what’s actually wrong with Craterhoof?

I disagree with the opinion that removal doesn't answer hoof, but I think that is metagame dependent. There is often a margin where a minimum hoof board has to attack dividing across all opponents without a lot of leeway. This is especially true on cluttered board states. Removing one of the attacke...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

Yea Anguished Unmaking for interaction. I like Aura of Silence , but I agree that I would prefer to try for creatures over noncreatures as the on-board removal slots. I'm going to nay Aura of Silence for similar reasons to my nay earlier on Night's Whisper ; it's a great card but a similar option li...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

If sectors were just on your battlefield, I could see a reasonable way to track them. Adding sectors to your opponents is the issue, because they likely won't have the prepared materials to make it clear. "Alright, so I cast space jace, quick everyone pull out your dedicated sectors playmat and...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

Would you not play ponder, preordain, and opt in a u deck? In all honesty, yeah this is exactly me. I think I only have one u deck that runs, maybe two of those? I'll play those in Talrand, Sky Summoner , but not Teferi, Temporal Archmage . I'll play them in spellslinging Riku of Two Reflections bu...

Re: So like, what’s actually wrong with Craterhoof?

I think my opinion on hoof is just that it doesn't matter what the other creatures are. It's so far better than all other Overrun effects that it gets old. I just enjoy the variety of Pathbreaker Ibex other Nylea's Colossus cards more. Any deck that makes many creatures can run the hoof well, only s...

I read it as Sol Ring, Orzhov Signet and Talisman of Hierarchy.

Re: Favorite strategy in the format?

In terms of playstyle, I think the only overarching strategy that I can point to is value , specifically repeated value. I tend towards very snowball oriented decks, whether that's fast snowball of value in Zada, or repeated board control in Mairsil, or stacking up copies in Riku. In terms of aggro/...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

Swords to Plowshares is an easy yea. Night's Whisper is a card that reminds me of my opinion on Arcum's Astrolabe . It's generic card draw, once. Honestly I still think that something like Wall of Omens is better, despite being fewer cards by itself. If we're sacrifice looping, then having draw on ...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

Yea Vanquish the Horde and the ramp package. I honestly like Living Death a lot, but I don't know if we capitalize on it more or less than our opponents would. I suspect that most situations where it's cast an opposing Kathril, Aspect Warper (for example) would get as much or more out of it. I don't...

Re: Zada: Grinding up an Arcane Storm

Hey all, I have been brewing my own Zada deck over the last few weeks and found this thread today, it has been a fascinating read and has given me a few new ideas. One thing I haven't seen discussed yet is man lands, In my own brew I've been using Inkmoth Nexus, Blinkmoth Nexus and Mishra's Factory...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

The part that I like most about Sunblast Angel is that when it does destroy our own creatures, the odds are good that Lulu already triggered Haunted One and they just come back. That's a cool include. Yea Sunblast Angel . I have had a lot of success with Righteous Valkyrie in Trostani, Selesnya's Vo...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

It was a change for this build with the intention to have more common orientation in what direction the deck is going, after the first two seemed to get more disjointed later in the process. It was also intentionally slowing down to encourage discussion. We have 2 people up to nominate cards each da...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

Yawgmoth is confirmed, the loxodon and that seven mv sorcery are not. I only counted 2 nays each (and 1 yay each) for Parhelion II and Devout Invocation . Is that all that's needed now to oust a nomination or are we still on 3? Thanks for the reminder, I had abstained on both of those iirc, so I co...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

Honestly, that's a good point. That was a contemplation that I had yesterday. I got distracted by the topic of the day. If I may retract my nomination since it's ahead of other voting, then I will edit the post. If my nomination above can be retracted, I would like to instead nominate Angel of Conde...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

I will start by voting yea on Taj-Nar Swordsmith . I think we will probably have enough equipment to support it. Then I was going nominate Amorphous Axe , but just changed my mind mid post. It's the same MV as Conspiracy , but within our tutor suite and the cost is spread out. I figured that we shou...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

Yea Angel of Serenity , that was on my list of curve-toppers. On equipment and tutors for them, I was eyeing Amorphous Axe as the third way to give lulu changeling. I don't know how heavily we want to invest in equipment and equipment tutors though. I had kind of assumed we wouldn't dedicate many sl...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v3.0

I want to like Devout Invocation, but it's just so high MV.

I don't have a lot of time between games to articulate the reasons, but I would like to nominate Yawgmoth, Thran Physician As our next sacrifice outlet. Its a bit over budget, but likely worth it.
